DH REALLY showed us up tonight

DH and I were invited to my parents for dinner tonight along with our DD(6). Also invited were my sister and her husband along with their DD(5).

Everything was going well until an advert for DisneyLand Paris came on TV and DH very uncharacteristically spat "oh fuck off with your screeching kids, what a pile of shit."

DH never swears and certainly never talks like this at someone elses house. Everyone was pretty shocked, mum pulled cats bum face but nobody said anything, I just gave him "the look".

DD then said "but daddy, I'd like to go to DisneyWorld". DH then replies "yes, DisneyWORLD, there is a massive difference between Disneyland and disneyWORLD. DisneyLAND is in France and it's cheap and nasty, people only go there when they can't afford to go to America. If we do go, we'll be going to the REAL disneyworld in the USA."

dd squeals in delight. Sister looks at her hubby who shakes his head. DH see's this and adds "well come on, Disney Paris is a cheap cunt holiday!".

My mum at this point stands up and busies herself in the kitchen. I am furious. DH knows full well that my sister and her family are going to Paris next year. I ask to have a word in private and in the hallway I ask him what on earth he's playing at and why he's acting so odd. He says I'm over-reacting and he's just trying to liven up the evening. When we go back in DD is telling DN that she's sorry she won't be going to the REAL disneyworld as her parents are cheap. I tell her off and DH shouts "USA" to which DD copies and they both start shouting it. Mum comes back in and complains about the noise and my dad asks me how much DH has drank and suggests we take DD home. First time I've ever been asked to leave my parents house Sad DH still refusing to apologise. AIBU to not let this one drop? he's totally shown me up in front of my family.

ha ha too funny. If this is a true story he is clearly trying to piss your sister off for whatever reason.....either that bored to tears at your parents house and thought he'd try n be clever (major fail)

ObviouslyOblivious · 03/11/2011 22:25

I'd leave the bastard.

Thingumy · 03/11/2011 22:27

Man swears.

Leave the bastard.

GypsyMoth · 03/11/2011 22:30

Maybe he has thought if your family like this all along and couldn't hide it any longer?

frumpet · 03/11/2011 22:42

lindalahughes thank god im not the only one sitting here chortlingGrin

planetpotty · 03/11/2011 22:43

Crap I'm going on a cheap c&£t holiday Blush

USA, USA, USA is funny Smile sorry!

Seriously though stress + drinking a lot fast had = me doing some extraordinarily odd/stupid/embarrassing/ out of character things. I say let him sleep on it then tomorrow ask him calmly when you both have time to talk "what was all that in aid of?" let him talk before you hammer him IMHO there is something beneath this such as a falling out with your dsis.

TheAnnoyingOrange · 03/11/2011 22:44

This doesn't even sound real....

chippy47 · 03/11/2011 22:47

Disneyland Paris is not exactly cheap anyway. Still a wind up thread mind.

Thingumy · 03/11/2011 22:51

< remembers the food at disneyland>

Nevertooearlyforcake · 03/11/2011 22:52

I'm really sorry but after the Disneyworld advert thread the other day, this just made me laugh... I really want this to be made up because otherwise "cheap cunt holiday" is going to go down in family lore...

planetpotty · 03/11/2011 22:54

From a mans perspective Hmm my DH just stated he is a legend and will never have to go to his in laws again!

RomanKindle · 03/11/2011 22:58

He said 'fuck off' and 'cunt' in front of his 6 yo daughter and 5 year old niece and deliberately upset his niece?! Nice man.

Is this a first post cos I swear I recognise the name unless someone on here has one similar

perfumedlife · 03/11/2011 22:59

Maybe he's having an affair with your sister and is raging that she's off to Paris with her dh next year Grin

Groovee · 03/11/2011 23:04

Disney Paris is not cheap! Your husband however is unreasonable and needs to apologise!

ShellyBoobs · 03/11/2011 23:11

He sounds utterly vile.

Vicky2011 · 03/11/2011 23:25

If this isn't made up then your DH is either a prize fuckwit or properly ill.

runningwilde · 03/11/2011 23:32

Is this thread for real? What kind of idiot uses that kind of language around children?

I don't believe this is real Hmm

witchyhills · 03/11/2011 23:42

He's lost it.
Did he suddenly develop tourettes? ( not trying to be funny or offensive)
That is bizarre
Did make me laugh though

ChippingInAutumnLover · 03/11/2011 23:53

Is this another highly a-moo-sing thread? Dear Good God - please make it end!

MenopausalHaze - brilliant!! I may have just woken up the neighbours laughing.

JustRedbin · 03/11/2011 23:58

Disneyland is in California - doesn't he know anything? Ditch the ignorant bastard.

Tortington · 04/11/2011 00:13

i thought it was odd until you mention later that he had a fair bit to drink

so he acted like a twat whilst pissed up

[shocker]

Stupify64 · 04/11/2011 00:24

perfume that was sooo my first thought. I'd def suspect DH & my Dsis.

duckdodgers · 04/11/2011 00:25

"Maybe he's having an affair with your sister and is raging that she's off to Paris with her dh next year "

PessimisticMissPiggy · 04/11/2011 00:28

Does he have any beef with your sister and BIL? Have they ever made him feel inferior?

It wouldn't excuse the behaviour but it might explain it?

RomanKindle · 04/11/2011 01:14

If this is real (which judging by the disappearance of the op it likely isn't but hey ho) I find it weird that the main thing that you are worried about is the fact your dh has 'shown you up'. Not the fact that your dh and your dd have deliberately upset your niece or that your dh has used the foulest of language in front of 2 very young children.
