I am potty training my son at the moment. He has just turned two. I put him pants on but he likes to take them off as he 'likes to get air to his bum bum' his words not mine.

Well Grandad is 76 and comes to visit as it is on his way to get his pension. So my son is running around with his top over his head. My partner is a Stoke fan and has taught him first.
Grandad gets offended and asks if i could cover him up as he does not want to see his genitals. I explain he is potty training and likes to hop on and off his potty as he pleases. He then mutters under his breath, makes his excuses and leaves.

Am i been unreasonable to let my two year old have no pants on, in his own home.

Exellent post Roman. Exactly what i am trying to do with my son.
Of course when Grandad and other family members visit i will put the pants on him.
Like i said he seems to like his new Thomas ones.
Hopefully by the end of the month he will be used to wearing them and just taking them off to use the potty, then putting them back on again.

When you do make the transition to pants OP dd found it really helpful to roleplay what you do when you need the loo including, most importantly, pulling pants down! I even put pants on one of her teddies to do it and made up a funny little song Blush. She seemed to get the idea pretty quickly though. Also get the pants a few sizes too big so they go up and down easily and the same with elasticated trousers or similar that are easy to pull up and down. DD is still wearing the knickers/leggings I bought 2 years ago for potty training cos I got them so big so it's saved me money too!

Thanks for the advice Roman and the pants on teddy sounds like a really good idea. His favorite toy is Iggle Piggle so i will put some pants on him and tell him to do a wee on the potty Grin

I nicked that idea off someone else - possibly on here!

My son is 23 when he was your sons age he never wore bottom halves of clothing either whilst potty training.

Sorry but I feel that in their own home kids can do what they please so long as the parents are comfortable with it.

Listening to my nana and grandad it seems grandad has never even seen nanas bum never mind his children's

He has seen my children bottomless and it doesn't bother him in the slightest
