to think Mothercare should produce grammatically correct clothing?

DP just came downstairs looking all proud of himself as he had dressed LO all by himself and chosen an outfit where the bottoms actually looked good with the top (note the sarcasm and shock; previous attempts have not been so successful!)

Was I being unreasonable to make him remove the top so that I could sew in an extra apostrophe? (And yes, this really did happen!)

PFB? Moi?

YABNBU about the apostrophe (which would irritate me though I would draw one on in permanent marker rather than waste time sewing)

However you are being very precious about co ordinating tops and bottoms. Wait until your lo is able to dress himself- you'll see some interesting combos ! But very important to let them do it - a pet hate of mine is mums who clearly wont let the child' or the father pick an outfit.

I wouldn't have bought it if it was incorrect, but then I don't really like clothing with slogans and such on them.

YANBU! I think it was very good of you not to bin it in a huff, as I would have done. The idea of leaving the house with a child wearing a grammatically incorrect top fills me with horror.

Good on you for utilising sewing skills too.

lol, I too would have added the apostrophe.
Sorry, Zukie, some things just bug people.
I have been known to lift dd2 up to cross out the apostrophe in cd's (sic) in a large well known swedish furniture store.

We have some pjs from Asda which say Boys Love Climbing Tree's and they make me all twitchy every time DS is wearing them. Sad, I know!

I agree zukie, it's unkind to pick up an individual on their grammar, but I do think that major brand companies should make an effort to get it right.

If an employee cannot spell properly and produces a notice for display that is incorrectly spelled, it is not the member of staff who is wrong. Someone should have checked it before it was displayed. It is the company whose reputation will be damaged.

I have written to supermarkets about 'recieve', 'dietry' and 'freshner'. In another I found 'makeral' on the front of the refrigerator. I got out my pen and altered it.

If they're a pair of clothes that have the words "Mummy" or "Daddy" on them, then YABU for buying them and it serves you rigt!!!!!

If big shops produce items which are incorrect, then why are we surprised when people don't know how to use apostrophes and things? I get it wrong sometimes but my work isn't being published for people to look at! I am always appalled when things are wrong in newspapers as well.

YABU if you bought it, but I'd have had to alter it too. Our local brand new ASDA has a car park marked Colleague's Only - awfully big car park for one employee at a time.

That's not very good. You must alter it otherwise it will surely subliminally damage your son's ability to write. And you should complain, as well.

Surely allowing your child to wear an item of clothing with major grammatical errors on it is as bad as one with an incorrect spelling.

You wouldn't let him wear 'Daddy's Little Soldeir' would you?

YANBU - DS has a mothercare top that has an apostrophe when it shouldn't, drives me so mad that I don't put him in it. I can't remember exactly what it says, but it is something like "Hippo's are happy".

Yup, well done Squeaky. You were incredibly close (and they were a gift people, a gift, honest!)

Zukie, I don't criticise individuals for grammar mistakes (except at work, where it's my job to and on here when people are being particularly annoying and I want to embarrass them) but I do think that companies should make sure their spelling, grammar etc is right.

I know I was being PFB by changing it, but it just annoyed me so much!
