Sorry I do apologise I can't do the clicky link thing however hard I try. Hmm

Anyway the comments section underneath this story have been full of borderline racist comments. You know, the type that you can't prove they're saying anything racist but it's quite obvious. Some of them have been removed now so I'm guessing some people may have reported the comments. Although the comments have to be vetted before they're printed anyway.

I'm basically trying to say it's awful, poor guy but can't we just view these attackers for the thugs that they are and not bring race into it. I've tried to comment 3 times.
No no, the Daily Mail wont print that, they'd rather print things like
''well obviously the victim wouldn't have seen them in the dark...'' and
''Oh I knew what race these attackers were before I read it''
''even if they were born here they're not British'' etc etc

And yes I hang my head in shame that I even venture on that site...

YANBU! I am glad someone else admits to reading Daily Mail as well. I have tried to get my comment published a few times, the only time they actually published it was when I made a comment about a celebrity's dress. It was a complimentary comment.

Pekka · 27/10/2011 20:46

I mean, I don't admit to reading Daily Mail, I just happen across their website every now and then :D

Bourbonchops · 27/10/2011 20:46

DirtyBat it's a joke isn't it? I tried 3 times to put my point across not in an aggressive way at all and they're not interested. They've allowed all sorts of the same opinionated comments though!
Thanks Cathy, was starting to wonder if I was sitting in my little boat alone with people assuming I'm over-sensitive or something.

Exactly Peka, it's compulsive reading. Kind of like how some people buy Heat magazine I suppose!

Try mentioning house prices.

Bourbonchops · 27/10/2011 20:55

Ha, Teth I'm surprised the DM has not mentioned the price of this French man's house back in France. It really adds such depth to their reports doesn't it?

OP posts:
TethHearseEnd · 27/10/2011 21:07

They would if it wasn't in Euros.

Bourbonchops · 27/10/2011 21:24

No, DM journo's wouldn't bother with the conversion. They would use it as fodder for a whole new article about Cameron and the EU or something or other.
More delightful comments:

As my comment hasnt been published, can I legally say.... What a surprise, police looking for 15 IC3's.

Please know this, Sir: The vermin who did this to you are not 'British'. They are at best passport british, and only then because of our liberals socially engineered modern society - something we British have never been asked or consulted about, Sir, I trust you will make a speedy and full recover, notwithstanding the loss of your wedding ring.

Everyone should live and procreate in the nation of their ancestors. You wouldn't let dogs and cats live together would you?

Baboons? Are my eyes deceiving me? What's wrong with people?

MackerelOfFact · 28/10/2011 09:16

I went for an interview with the Daily Mail once, for a job moderating their website comments and forum. It was most odd, I was interviewed by a twentysomething Fearne-Cotton-alike who told me she wanted me to swear in the interview if I felt like it because she wanted to really get to know me.

She recoiled in horror when I suggested that the readers comments would need to be carefully moderated because some of their views might be a little on the racist side. Oops. Grin

MackerelOfFact · 28/10/2011 09:19

Oh God that poor guy. :( (Sorry, just clicked link).

But the comments are just awful. The attackers are scum because they brutally attacked a man, surely that speaks for itself?!

SinicalSal · 28/10/2011 14:16

/poor ole Mackeral. Didn't get the job then??

I'd be tempted to 'black up' if I went for an interview there. Their heads would be spinning - I mean it's shockingly racist, so points there, but quite possibly ironic - so what to do??? what if there's a serious point about racism being made?!
