An asylum seeker is someone who cannot return to their home country or is forced to flee their home country because they have a genuine fear that they will be killed/tortured if they do so. We have a legal obligation to offer such people a safe haven.

there are plenty of false asylum seekers who try to twist our immigration system for their own benefit - perhaps she was meaning them? Cases can take years to resolve and although I believe those with pending cases are not allowed to work and get little benefits (if any) it doesn't stop cash in hand employment, educational benefits etc being given.
