Just read a FB comment from old school mate which went along the lines of..

Eating my tea whilst breast feeding now that takes some doing!

Or words to that effect.

I immediately thought you just want the world to know you're breastfeeding.

I'm I bitter cos I didn't feed very well or very long or are you with me on this one?

cantpooinpeace · 16/10/2011 22:23

It always boils down to issues doesn't it, it can't possibly be just plain irksome Hmm

OP posts:
grumplestilskin · 16/10/2011 22:25

imo its not really normal or healthy to have your reaction to that statement so yup! issues! its not being annoyed that someone in the staff kitchen didn't wash their cup!

MrsCampbellBlack · 16/10/2011 22:25

Well most people think its your issues Cantpooinpeace or perhaps we're just being irksome.

cantpooinpeace · 16/10/2011 22:28

You guys aren't irksome, just a bit twee Grin

Well, no, it's not 'just plain irksome'.

I've already said why a person might use facebook (a social networking site) for keeping family and friends in touch with - wait for it - the boring social details of their lives. You may not give a shite that she has a new baby, but someone out the is probably dead happy to have a new niece or grandson or whatever. Her posts are probably mostly intended for them, and for her friends.

Booooooyhoo · 16/10/2011 22:31

these are my favourite types of AIBU's

i dont even need to say why. we all know.

cantpooinpeace · 16/10/2011 22:34

Because you guys go so unecessarily deep about light hearted threads right?

OP posts:
EllaDee · 16/10/2011 22:37

It's very calming, cantpoo. Try a bit of righteous indignation with strangers being pricks and you won't end up deleting your RL acquaintances so often.

cantpooinpeace · 16/10/2011 22:42

You've lost me with the big words Ella

OP posts:
Booooooyhoo · 16/10/2011 22:47

ahem. been here long OP?

cantpooinpeace · 16/10/2011 22:49

Huh?

OP posts:
ThingsThatGoFlumpInTheNight · 16/10/2011 22:59

IMO this thread sums up everything that's crap about FB. People become 'friends' with people they can't be bothered to be friends with in RL, because they're not (friends with them). Therefore they don't give a crap about what's going on in their lives and get extremely bored (or grumpy/picky) when they have to keep reading their updates.

Can you tell I hate FB? All that 'ooh, luv u hun' shit makes me feel old Sad

But I'm not bitter.

runningwilde · 16/10/2011 23:21

Bitter

Why shouldn't she feel proud? She is doing so well as bf is hard work

cantpooinpeace · 17/10/2011 07:36

try reading the thread first :)

What I remember of breastfeeding is that it was very much a two hand job for my clueless babies : I could manage the breastpump with one hand but not a living baby. And dd fed pretty constantly- which meant I didn't feed much at all.

So definitely not bragging about something predictable: if I had ever managed to do what your friend did I would have been in tears with relief. I wouldn't have thought about it as bragging- just "how wonderful is this".

TipOfTheSlung · 17/10/2011 08:26

Sounds your 'friend' is well rid

blackoutthesun · 17/10/2011 10:08

then how do you not get that it can be hard to master blackout? do you have an extra pair of hands

yes i've also got 5 legs Hmm
the only thing i miss about bf is being able to eat my dinner while its hot

whathellcall · 17/10/2011 10:49

You mean to tell me that this girl actually got married and breastfed her baby, and has the audacity to mention these things to others!Shock What a complete bitch!

You know that you are being ricockulously unreasonableWink.

Sorry if there were any mistakes in this post, breastfeeding and typing takes some doing Grin

mindgone · 17/10/2011 11:20

Yes, I find the FB post irritating and twee too! But then again, I find lots of them twee and irritating! Esp the ones who are on it constantly, giving every detail of their dull lives! I just don't get the whole need to put your whole life on facebook, just get on with it, and LIVE it! But also, in a bitchy, immature way, I find these people's posts quite entertaining, and strangely addictive! Also make me feel a bit smug that at least I don't feel the need to brag about something so inane! Bitches anonymous!

cantpooinpeace · 17/10/2011 11:37

Mind - you've nailed it.

To conclude - People use FB in different ways, as this is not something that would enter my mind to post - ever.

OP posts:
mindgone · 17/10/2011 11:41

Why thank you! :)

wannaBe · 17/10/2011 11:46

I think people underestimate just how dull posts about breastfeeding/wee/pooh/burps/sleeplessness/ can be.

I used to have someone on my fb (I've recently deactivated my account) who posted every intimate detail about her pregnancy on her status. So much so that several of her friends got fed up with reading it (they didn't dislike her - they just didn't want hour by hour updates of the baby's movements, and this wasn't her first,). that they hid her status updates. Subsequently when the baby was born it was very ill and spent time in scbu and in fact very nearly died. All this too was posted on fb, presumably because that was the quickest way to update people. Except that so many people had hidden her status updates by then that they had no idea.

JeremyVile · 17/10/2011 11:47

So what do you do status updates about then OP?

Booooooyhoo · 17/10/2011 12:11

"To conclude - People use FB in different ways, as this is not something that would enter my mind to post - ever."

so this girl isn't bragging or being smug afterall then? she's just using FB a different way than you do? so YABU afterall. so glad you can admit that.

this has turned into my second favourite type of AIBU.
