I can't stick mummy blogs (even those who have been through trying times). Like BootyMum I would prefer mums with at least a hint of honesty in their blogs.

There was an amazing blogger here, so resourceful think she was a Mumsnetter too, but this is the only one I follow regularly (as do the people I've recommended it too). This blogger makes fantastic stuff without the 'aren't I awesome' type of posts to accompany it.

Arf at the owl and the hedgehog in the Elimination Corner coming from Wee Gallery.

That is funny, I was just about to mention SoResourceful. I agree, she is extremely talented without the twee-factor.

I had a look at Soulemama, and while it is ok, it is all very samey. I don't think I would follow her blog for long as she brings nothing new.

If you like craft blogs, then check out Dillytante. I particularly like her yarnbombing posts.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/10/2011 20:20

Nice blog, OP, and the baby IS beautiful. Grin

twinklytroll · 12/10/2011 20:39

I don't get what is so wrong about someone being so happy. I don't blog as I don't have time however I do take endless photographs of my family. I do bake constantly, I do make clothes, have projects etc. I live in a nice home my family life is content and we adore each other. That takes a lot of work and so I am happy about it.

If I had another child I may keep a blog and I am sure it would be ripped to shred on here.

fedupofnamechanging · 12/10/2011 20:41

I quite like Kelle Hampton (how do you pronounce Kelle? is it Kelly or is it like Belle?)

I wish I could be the kind of mother who does impromptu trips to the beach and likes all that crafty shit.

saffron · 12/10/2011 20:46

I still read Sew Liberated, she is completly nuts in a good way Grin One of those mam's that was going to baby wear, co sleep, elimination (or what ever that no nappy put the baby on the potty straight away thing is called) sew all her clothes, organic home cooked, lentil weaving etc. She was doing brilliantly and managed to follow her heart as well as run a blog which supported her whole family (husband was doing his PHD) as well as support them all enough to buy a house out of her earnings!!! Right up to the birth of her second child. He has had to have quite a few heart ops. I have noticed that new baby has jarred food, wears nappies and has a dummy! I always thought good on her, the only thing I didn't like was the phoney my kids and husband are Irish, are they fuck.
The one I like (although she makes me Hmm sometimes too) is [[
thegirlwho.net/ The Girl Who]]

rumcrumble · 12/10/2011 20:56

Errr what the fuck? This is not real, surely.

MmeLindor. · 12/10/2011 21:19

Thanks for the link to TheGirlWho. Love her.

She reminds me a bit of the Bloggess. Has anyone not read the chicken post yet? Warning - go to the loo before you read, or grab a Tena lady.

LadyEvilEyes · 12/10/2011 21:28

That blog seems to have an awful lot of links, doesn't it?
To various sites where you can buy stuff.
It's an advert, not a blog.

saffron · 12/10/2011 21:37

Has anyone tried reading Babble, I have it made me want to bang my head on the wall repeatedly until my eye balls fall out. It could be that I have been spoilt by Mumsnet, with our sarcastic posts full of humor and good advice with a smattering of well written Blogs. Where as Babble is hard to negoitate, and full of I am the best mommy in the world blog posts with vomit inducing comments afterwards, Shite on a stick imo

chaosisawayoflife · 12/10/2011 21:37

Do you think her dh slapped a bow on the babies head as it was crowning? I hate bows on babies with no hair and that baby had one in from day 1.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 12/10/2011 21:42

twinklytroll - it's perfectly possible to have a lovely, happy, fulfilling life without telling everyone about it all the time. God, you'd wonder how people coped before the Internet and blogging enabled everyone to haemorrhage the complete minutiae of their daily escapades. And yet, oddly, they did... Hmm

I post on another (closed) forum and we had a thread going taking the piss out of picture-perfect bloggers, not just the mummy-variety, and whaddaya know, a load of them tried to join up.

Apparently, if they get an influx of visitors, they can tell where they all came from, i.e. in this case, via the link posted in the OP from Mumsnet.

So don't be surprised if Taza and, um, 'hubby' pitch up here to see what's being said about them. Grin

twinklytroll · 12/10/2011 21:55

As I said if I had time I would probably keep a blog, I love taking and sharing photographs. I love cooking and sharing that with other people who cook. The same for sewing and being generally creative.

If it is not your thing just ignore, I just don't get the need to take the piss.

TipOfTheSlung · 12/10/2011 21:56

If you like crafty human bloggers another good one mumofalltrades she's a mner too

twinklytroll · 12/10/2011 21:57

I suspect that many people who blog were the kind of people who kept journals and diaries. I have always kept journals in which I write up projects I am working on or reflect on my life.

sayjay · 12/10/2011 22:20

For those who'd like a realistic parenting blog:

Parenting Illustrated with Crappy Pictures

MmeLindor. · 12/10/2011 22:51

Slinking
It depends on how many hits she gets, to whether she bothers to look I would imagine. If she gets thousands of hits a day, an extra 50 or 60 hits from MN won't make much of a dent.

Babble is a bit like a mix of MN and Britmums then? Or just a bloggers network?

I like the Crappy Pictures one too. Sad post about her friend, Wendy.

BootyMum · 12/10/2011 23:03

sayjay that crappy blog is brilliant!

ItsTimeToBurnThisDiscoDown · 12/10/2011 23:15

Have just read the chicken entry on The Bloggess, I'm now crying with laughter and my poor DS has been shaken off the boob!Grin

mathanxiety · 12/10/2011 23:16

Josh and Naomi? Juilliard dance? Nahhhh, not Mormons.

Saffron, thanks for reminding me about Sew Liberated. That was a hoot imo. Do you have a link? I had it bookmarked but managed to obliterate a chunk of items I had saved including that one.

mathanxiety · 12/10/2011 23:27

I love that Crappy one.

MrBloomsNursery · 12/10/2011 23:33

"yesterday, eleanor and i shared an orange together (on my bed. oops. don't tell papa.)"

Hahahahahahahha....oh dear me...

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 13/10/2011 00:08

Because banging on about, and 'sharing' your perfect life just begs the piss to be taken. Grin Sorry, but it does. If you don't get that, well, meh.

The blessing of diaries and journals is that they were private; not put out there for everyone to consume. I dare say they were way more honest too, because they weren't for public consumption. Not written with a reader or viewer to impress in mind.

I'm just naturally cynical of people that have to bang on about things, instead of just getting on with them.

Same with those who go on about their amazing sex lives. Hmm If it was really, genuinely amazing, you'd just be doing it, rather than wittering about it. It feels like you have something to prove, someone (usually yourself IME) that needs go be convinced.

All very contrived and doesn't ring true.
