I darent keep a blog lest the internet explodes with the comments on just how adorable my children are.
There are quite a few of them and their awesomeness is well, awesome.
Its a burden but what can I do?

TipOfTheSlung · 12/10/2011 17:48

Your children are adorable. Do it as a test case.

i have a blog. You can tell how boring I am as I have run out of things to say on it, even when I did have things before they weren't very interesting

MrsHuxtable · 12/10/2011 17:53

Where's the recipe for the cinnamon buns? I love that dog btw!

MmeLindor. · 12/10/2011 17:54

I think with blogging you have to be either a) mother of incredibly photogenic children, b) crafty and creative or c) incredibly opinionated.

Problem with a) is that once your children are 8 or 9 years old they object to being photographed, and cease to be quite so cuuuuuuuute and adorable. So what do you blog about then?

BootyMum · 12/10/2011 17:55

The problem with these Mommy/Mummy blogs is that they all seem inordinately pleased with themselves.

Very little humour or irony present.

Just sentimental, rose coloured, self congratulatory tosh.

Look how fabulous I am, how gorgeous my baby is, blah, blah.

But Cherry Menlove's is the WORST!

MmeLindor. · 12/10/2011 17:58

MrsH
She links to them somewhere, but I am searching for different recipes and found this truly bizarre http://allrecipes.com/recipe/classic-cinnamon-rolls/detail.aspx with mashed potatoes

moraletotallydestroyedbypoopoo · 12/10/2011 17:58

Well before she had the baby she blogged about the awesomeness of the dog and before she got the dog she blogged about the awesomeness of marriage and her DH. So I suppose it's a bit unfair to call it a mommy blog.

BootyMum · 12/10/2011 17:59

And yes, they do tend to have beautiful photographs.

But come on you guys, it is documenting such an unreal world of mothering.

Now if someone could blog THE TRUTH - mother still in dressing gown at 2pm, baby [dressed in Tesco own brand baby gro] covered in puke and fishfingers, dinner being cooked consisting of frozen mini chicken nuggets, chips and a smattering of carrots...

That I would PAY to read!

BillComptonstrousers · 12/10/2011 18:00

I feel very sorry for Cherry Menlove, her husband has leukemia, she must be going through a rough time.

Everybody is wanting those 'geeky' type glasses at the minute!

Hopefully · 12/10/2011 18:04

Wtf is cherry menlove?

I rather love escapist blogs where the baby never voms, everyone wears handknits and it never rains (unless it's photogenic rain). Although that blog is vom-tastic, even for me.

Do like Sew Liberated though.

Soulemama is in a similar vein but much less twee, IMO.

BootyMum · 12/10/2011 18:06

Didn't know that Bill Blush

But then I have only skimmed over her blog a couple of times when it has been referenced here.

I don't wish ill on the woman or her DH...

But I hope she is not using his illness as more entertainment for the masses on her blog. With herself cast as tragic heroine.

Sorry but she does come across as a grandiose attention seeker.

MrsHuxtable · 12/10/2011 18:08

Thanks Mme Lindor!

MmeLindor. · 12/10/2011 18:32

MrsH
That was an odd one, so I am going to give this one a go allrecipes.com/Recipe/Buttermilk-Cinnamon-Rolls/Detail.aspx
Will let you know how it turned out.

HengshanRoad · 12/10/2011 18:33

Bad, but not as bad as Kelle "head in the sand" Hampton.

TipOfTheSlung · 12/10/2011 18:51

I think it's weird, you read these blogs and think oh their lives are so easy and then their baby is born with down syndrome or a life threatening illness or their husband has leukemia and then you suddenly look at them in a different light

BootyMum · 12/10/2011 18:57

Aaah, or was it Kelle Hampton I was thinking of rather than Cherry Menlove?

No matter, I remember both as being quite bleurgh.

Xiaoxiong · 12/10/2011 19:00

My favourite mum blog with gorgeous pictures is SouleMama. Found it originally looking for info about home births, stayed for the lovely pictures and escapism! She acknowledges right up front that she only posts the good things and there will be weeks of perfection, and then post that just says something like "one of those awful days, popcorn for dinner."

Xiaoxiong · 12/10/2011 19:03

Oops see it's already been mentioned by Hopefully.

BootyMum · 12/10/2011 19:20

Oh I quite like SouleMama.

Also want to order her Rhythms book.

yok2t · 12/10/2011 19:24

Another one who likes Soulemama here. This blog doesn't really do it for me, a bit dull. Interesting what someone said earlier about the Mormon church paying bloggers to write 'perfect mommy' blogs. I can think of at least two other blogs written by Mormon mothers which are quite similar. Not sure if they would make me want to become a Mormon though.Hmm

Greythorne · 12/10/2011 19:39

Can anyone find the Sew Liberated post about the bedroom she had created for her unborn child? It is CLASSIC. in a bad way. But I can't find it now....

TandB · 12/10/2011 19:48

This one?
