Went into Primark for first time today. Awful just awful. Full of cheap tat would rather shop at a jumble sale.

squeakytoy same rules apply in Primark on a Saturday as in jumbles I suppose.

Sharpen your elbows and in you go......

AgentZigzag · 09/10/2011 00:08

I was thinking the same Carrots.

I think I must have met professional jumblers, they were like fucking locusts Shock

With armfulls of clothes being grabbed, everything was gone within minutes.

Unforgettable.

squeakytoy · 09/10/2011 00:10

I have seen two women fighting over a cardigan at a jumble sale.. it ended up with arms about 4ft long! Grin

The best buy I ever had at the jumble was a pair of extremely well worn thigh high boots.... got them for 20p.. sold them for £180 on eBay... they actually were very good quality leather, and made by a shop in Wardour St, London, probably in the 60's...

babycham42 · 09/10/2011 00:10

Now that's the sort of jumble I know and love.Survival of the fittest....

SurprisEs · 09/10/2011 00:12

I don't like primark for most things. Everytime I buy there things shrink or go out of shape the first time I wash them. Nothing to doneiyh being a snob, just haven't had positive experiences.

The only time I'd recommend any of their products is potty training a toddler. The knickers were really cheap but the elastic never wore off and because they were so cheap I felt no guilt at throwin them in the bin. Some accidents were unwashable.
Any other time and I haven't been happy so I gave up.

LikeABlackFlameCandleBNQ · 09/10/2011 00:15

They do the most amazing trouser socks. Black, made with what feels like silk they are that soft, never bobble, fade, shrink. I have never found a better black sock on earth.

Their pj bottoms are faultless. Wash well, dry quick, keep me warm, and dont break the bank.

I have a little over the shoulder bag bought 5 years ago for £2 that is still in perfect nick. And I use it daily.

Ideal place for holiday bits that I only wear abroad, bikinis and flip flops etc.

babycham42 · 09/10/2011 00:18

The point really is that some of us have to shop in the likes of Primark and charity shops.Would LOVE to shop in Boden or the like but really need to get a whole seasons clothes for the cost of one dress in there!!!!

frutilla · 09/10/2011 00:18

I dream of Primark. Where I live (abroad), the clothes are ridiculously expensive and the seams open up the first time you wear them. My fave is Peacocks though...

squeakytoy · 09/10/2011 00:18

My husband has worn Levi jeans for years... and years. He will happily recommend primark mens jeans as being great.

squeakytoy · 09/10/2011 00:19

I can happily say I have no idea what Boden sells, nor do I ever want to wear it... I have a feeling it wont be me Grin

babycham42 · 09/10/2011 00:20

frutilla I agree wholeheartedly re: Peacocks.

babycham42 · 09/10/2011 00:21

Yep squeakytoy I know I'd look shite in Chanel.....!

GothAnneGeddes · 09/10/2011 00:22

Yes, their fleece pj's wash beautifully. Avoid their undies though.

SurprisEs · 09/10/2011 00:22

I tend to buy a few pieces at a time in other places but on sale. Or I save up for 3 months or so. But I've only got one child and can imagine it'll get harder when DC2 arrives.

As for me, I can't remember the last time I updated my wardrobe or bought a new pj! I'm sure I'd be able to do it if I bought in primark but hbe hated everything I ever bought from there.

babycham42 · 09/10/2011 00:25

My PJ's are all BC and very holey. How much are grown up PJ bottoms (but I like nice comfy ones that come up to waist, not low rise)?

worraliberty · 09/10/2011 00:29

I'm sat here wearing Primark fleece PJs now

What I'd like to know is...who are these women with short arms and legs longer than Linford Christie???

Grin
AgentZigzag · 09/10/2011 00:31

Peacocks and New Look were lifesavers when I had to buy maternity clothes.

But I don't reckon they think women with long legs get pregnant though, I spent most of my time walking round with draughty ankles Hmm

squeakytoy · 09/10/2011 00:31

Babycham.. PJ bottoms are about a fiver or less. and they are elasticated waists.. come up to your waist (ie dont hang on your arse).. are bloody comfy, in a multitude of colours and patterns, and wash brilliantly..

I find the fluffy tops too hot to wear, so I always wear a vest top anyway.. but they have also started selling them in separates rather than a top and bottoms.

All I can say is dont buy the cotton stripey ones with the elasticated ankles, they are a bloody awful fit.

AgentZigzag · 09/10/2011 00:32

X-posts with you worra, but I've got long arms as well as long legs, so not me Grin

babycham42 · 09/10/2011 00:33

Thanks squeaky.I may venture to The Big Town for Christmas shopping so perhaps I'll sneak a couple in.

Mspontipine · 09/10/2011 00:39

I'm also snuggled up in their fleecy pjs Grin
I live in their pants (shorts with button on front)
I get really excited when going to Primark!!!

perfumedlife · 09/10/2011 00:40

Grin I bought the womans version of the all in one sleepsuit, happily sat wearing it tonight when my sister skyped me on facebook and couldn't stop laughing. They really are made for very tall people aren't they? But so warm, no draughts, I love them now.

Offered to buy dh one to join me and ds in the lap of warmth but he sniffily told me one of us has to maintain some dignity. The fool.

squeakytoy · 09/10/2011 00:46

perfumed dont you find your feet get too hot....

and yes, they are designed for tall people.. I am only 5ft, and I seem to have a extra foot of foot Grin

I offered to buy the husband a tiger one, cant understand why he told me to fuck off! Grin

TooManyBlossoms · 09/10/2011 00:53

I'm wearing Primark fleecy pjs now too - a blue top with "bedtime bear" on it, and white bottoms with blue and black pawprints on them. DH can hardly keep his hands off me...

babycham42 · 09/10/2011 01:02

Sounds exactly what I need TooMany Grin Grin
