Foot woman wasn't Rachelle Strauss was it?

OTheHugeManatee · 02/04/2012 16:16

I love the way montessori woman has added a tiny laundry bowl (which she brought back from Mexico, obvs) to the 'dressing space' for her STILL UNBORN BABY and then says about adding a bar to the wall to encourage pulling/standing up 'we'll cross that bridge when we get to it'.

AbsofAwesomeness · 02/04/2012 16:47

Ah Cherry - comes across as a bit unhinged in that DM article (which we knew). The DM is pretty anti her as well, "out of work actress" and all that, which is strange for them as they LOVE a Cupcake Redemption story, they truly do.

There was an AIBU about the Sibari women recently which was FAB.

LittleAlbert · 02/04/2012 16:51

I really hope someone bought that family a Vtech.babysteps walker for that Montessori room.

OTheHugeManatee · 02/04/2012 17:00

I have visions of that Montessori woman going absolutely apeshit upon discovering that her little darling has brought home some random piece of plastic tat from a friend's house to mar the 'peaceful' ambience of his perfectly designed 'space', and scarring the poor little bugger for life by ceremonially burning it.

TheWomanFormerlyKnownAsSGM · 02/04/2012 17:10

You just know she'll be writing party invitations requesting no plastic toys and then refusing gifts that don't meet her specifications.

SuePurblybilt · 02/04/2012 17:18

But she's (Sewlib lady) nicer than La Menlove with it, doncha think? I have wooden-toy-ponciness tendencies myself so praps I like her better because of that.

But then I have country-living-ponciness tendencies too, like La Menlove, and I can't chuffing STAND her Grin.

bronze · 02/04/2012 17:34

I got Meg McElwees book out of the library and she is good at what she does. Cherry does what? Ice cakes badly, ffs I can do that

DaisySteiner · 02/04/2012 17:35

I think the reason why Sewlib is tolerable is that you get the impression that she really believes in this stuff, it's not just a lifestyle choice/affectation. Whereas I think Ms Menlove is quite deliberately trying to make herself into a 'brand' and shabby-shit/retro crafts 'n' home baking looks like an easy market to get in to. There's something quite unattractive about making your life look oh-so-perfect just to make some money.

AbsofAwesomeness · 02/04/2012 18:10

Re-reading the Tornado Hell. LOVE how she mentions everyone's career/job "film producer Julia" Adrian, former private banker, Jamie, musician neighbour and ... Beryl. (doesn't warrant a title)

LittleAlbert · 02/04/2012 18:20

Yes I am a touch jealous of the Montessori baby room

TheNightIsDarkAndFullOfTerrors · 02/04/2012 21:20

I think the Sew Liberated woman has a separate room for her DS1 which is full of Ben Ten crap.

I wonder what he will be doing in his "self-care" space when he is a teenager?

Stratters · 02/04/2012 21:37

Now there's a boy who will be the proud owner of a home made wankmitten. So he can express himself in his self-care space.

peggyblackett · 02/04/2012 21:45

:o stratters

MissHilly · 02/04/2012 21:47

A few people have posted on Cherry's webpage about the article but she hasn't replied yet. I wonder will the book still go ahead, surely no one will buy it and it will end up being sold at The Works.

LucyGoose · 02/04/2012 22:01

I thought she was more realistic and less annoying than most crafty/cook types who are out there.

For example this woman is a complete fraud - she's not a "little ole rancher wife", she is bankrolled by her hubby and her recipes are stolen from old church cookbooks: thepioneerwoman.com/

TheNightIsDarkAndFullOfTerrors · 02/04/2012 22:04

Home-made wankmitten Grin

bronze · 02/04/2012 22:11

I think PW bankrolls herself these days.

MissHilly · 02/04/2012 22:13

The fact that Cherry is an actress should have been the first warning sign really, it is all just one big act.LucyGoose I used to read Pioneer Woman years ago, has she made any money from it, books or TV deals?

bronze · 02/04/2012 22:15

Hasn't she just. Goes on Oprah and evryfink

worzelswife · 02/04/2012 22:20

This. Can't stand Cherry Menlove and her twee orchard. Definitely expected her voice to be v plummy too. I also HATE her 'I love you' at the end of every blog post. She did though write something when her husband was ill which said that all that mattered to her really was her family, and that made me warm to her a bit. But really, delete the blog Cherry please.

The sewliberated blog I do actually really like, even though I first came across it here when people were taking the piss. She has written about her oldest child having tantrums despite his perfect room, her second dc has had major heart surgery (and could have easily died at birth) and although it's still easy to laugh at some of it she seems genuinely nice and talented.

ike1 · 02/04/2012 23:02

Remember I love you all x

MissHilly · 02/04/2012 23:10

ike1 are you Cherry?

ike1 · 02/04/2012 23:15

Look I love you alright! Are you f.....g slow or sumfing (only jokin' check the Mail article) xxxxxxxxx

MissHilly · 02/04/2012 23:23

Grin actually thought you might have been her though as she came on to one of the threads before about herself. It got deleted so I never got to read it though.
