to think that I'll never be able to eat grilled cheese without laughing again?

A friend has been making random allusions and jokes about "grilled cheese" for ages, that I never quite understood, so I asked, and was sent this link.

it's not just the actual article but the comments completely cracked me up. I am sat here still giggling to myself, with my toddler laughing along, but slightly bewildered.

I don't think I'll ever be able to eat grilled cheese again without thinking about that.. AIBU?

Pmsl.

IvySedaiballs · 06/10/2011 15:20

yes, runforfun, it's all about making grilled cheese sandwiches, or someone's girlfriend who refuses to make him some. it has been suggested his pan may be dirty. or that she has tomato soup instead...
:o

"Grilled cheese" sounds to me like "cheese that has been grilled", which is a very strange foodstuff indeed.

Have you seen the Mac and cheese thread?

IvySedaiballs · 06/10/2011 15:46

it is cheese that has been grilled.. between two slices of bread. or in this case, it's something slightly different :o

OP posts:
Trills · 06/10/2011 15:50

From your description it has been fried, not grilled.

Jacksmania · 06/10/2011 15:55

I don't understand!!

Can someone spell it out in words of one syllable?

IvySedaiballs · 06/10/2011 16:01

I can spell it out for you in two letters. :o

OP posts:
IvySedaiballs · 06/10/2011 16:02

Trills, did you read the article?

OP posts:
IvySedaiballs · 06/10/2011 16:03

this is the crucial paragraph:
A disclaimer from Meredith: When this letter arrived in my Love Letters InBox, it was too risqué to post on Boston.com (we?re a family website, after all). But because I believe the reader?s question is valid and worthy of our discussion, I?ve decided to post it -- with all of the writer's R-rated phrases replaced by my G-rated euphemisms. I'm asking that you use my euphemisms in your comments so I can post them. I love a good euphemism, don?t you?

stepawayfromtheecclescakes · 06/10/2011 16:06

would those letters be BJ?

Jacksmania · 06/10/2011 16:07

Oh.

Ooooooooohhhhhh.

I get it. Blush

Jacksmania · 06/10/2011 16:08

Still confused about tomato soup... but I don't think I want an explanation, I have a dim idea and I think leaving it there would be just fine. :o

Trills · 06/10/2011 16:10

I don't care - I'm still anti "grilled cheese" as a euphemism for "fried cheese sandwich". :o

(The agony aunt couldn't use the proper term in her "family newspaper" so substituted the term Grilled Cheese instead!

anon2011 · 06/10/2011 16:24

Haha - I just emailed the link to DH and asked if he fancied some grilled cheese tonight!

IvySedaiballs · 06/10/2011 16:26

maybe I should have saved this thread for tomorrow night.. think of the potential. A bunch of MNers, Wine and euphemisms....
