Was I being unreasonable to laugh at dh for this?

In the car, earlier on, ds1 (18) was describing a crash he had on his bike, at a skate park, when he broke his wrist - and was telling us how many times the word 'fuck' had gone through his mind before he hit the floor. Dh became a tad po-faced about the use of the word, so I may have used it a few times ("Boys - don't say fuck, because dad doesn't like you using the word fuck and thinks it is fucking rude for you to keep on fucking saying the word fuck").

Dh started to tell us, in somewhat pompous tones, how, when he was a lad, out and about in the car with his parents, he wouldn't have dreamt of using That Word in front of them - and suddenly a car nearly pulled out in front of us on the roundabout, almost hitting us, and forcing dh to swerve. Dh shouted, "FUCKWIT", - and the rest of us fell about in helpless fits of laughter at the irony. It took him a while to see the funny side.

I think laughing in that situation is acceptable

However you will get told your husband is Disablist for use of the term Fuckwit

LittleMissFlustered · 02/10/2011 13:53

I prefer fucknugget for screaming at motorists. It is highly satisfying to say. Not unreasonable for the laughter at all thoughGrin

TidyDancer · 02/10/2011 13:54

I enjoyed this a lot! Therefore, YANBU!

Tee2072 · 02/10/2011 14:03

Fuckwit is now disablist? FFS!

And YANBU! That's truly funny!

HowlingBitch · 02/10/2011 14:07

Oooh I would have hugged myself! Brilliant. Never let him forget it.

valiumredhead · 02/10/2011 14:10

Fuckwit means someone without a clue - totally acceptable in this situation!

andthisisme · 02/10/2011 14:12
Grin
Thumbwitch · 02/10/2011 14:14

Fuckwit is NOT disablist, FFS!! Hmm

OP, YANBU - that is bloody funny. (Although your thread title is bloody unreasonable.)

ChippingIn · 02/10/2011 14:14

I would still be laughing Grin

Fuckwit is not disablist FGS.

Thumbwitch · 02/10/2011 14:16

Sorry sorry - not your thread title - getting confused with another one I read that just said "AIBU?" which clearly they were for using that thread title. Not you. Blush

alwayswright · 02/10/2011 14:18

Hilarious and definitely NOT unreasonable! Grin

Flamingredhead · 02/10/2011 14:22

I must admit I would have laughed at it to

worraliberty · 02/10/2011 14:22

That is quite funny actually!

Though at almost 20yrs old my son still doesn't swear in front of me and I very rarely swear in front of my kids.

I also never (and still don't) swear in front of my parents.

I'm a bit old fashioned like that Blush

Flamingredhead · 02/10/2011 14:23

Zukie. At 18 her Ds not a child

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 02/10/2011 14:25

Brilliant!Grin

BatsUpMeNightie · 02/10/2011 14:25

Very funny Grin

As for the po-faced "I would never let my children swear" contingent - well, I'm afraid it's time you woke up. Make that 'woke the fuck up'! The word no longer has the shock factor that it had decades ago. That may be sad, but it is indubitably true. Given that - you'd might as well roll over and accept it.

Bearskinwoolies · 02/10/2011 14:26

Just read the OP to my dh (between snorts of laughter) and we are both in agreement

YADNBU Grin

BatsUpMeNightie · 02/10/2011 14:26

Worra Grin - I was 40 before I let slip a 'fuck' in front of my Dad. He let slip one right back!!

eaglewings · 02/10/2011 14:30

Thanks for the laugh

But yabu to use the word so often........

worraliberty · 02/10/2011 14:32

Lol Bats My Dad swears like a trooper in front of my DH and my brother...but he'd blush if he let a 'bloody' slip in front of me Grin
