To respond to fb status about benefits & urine tests?

Today's copy and paste status amongst my acquaintances today implies that all people on benefits should have to take a urine test to show they are alcohol and drug free in order to claim. I'm truly fed up of benefit bashing comments like this from my 'friends' who, when challenged, usually say 'oh we didn't mean you, obviously'. Actually it's people just like me they are referring to. WIBU to challenge a friend on this and ask how they would feel about urine tests to claim CB, for example?

It's the implication that if you are on benefits you drink a lot and take drugs that offends me. I'm not getting any benefits atm (could do with it post redundancy) but I can honestly say I have never taken any drugs and I have never been drunk.

Ok fair enough it is the implication, but also why should service personnel have CDT (Compulsory Drug Testing) when the vast majority will not do drugs and only a minority carry live arms? (and are wage earners, tradesmen and tax payers)

Its not saying that everyone on benefits takes drugs, its asking why drug testing doesnt take place. To be honest if people didnt have anything to fear they wouldnt be arguing. In response to someones post earlier, yes I do have children and yes I would take a urine test to get cb cos I have nothing to hide

To be honest if people didn't have anything to fear they wouldnt be arguing.

The usual point of the drug testing is to find out if you are capable of doing the job. People on benefits don't have jobs.

At least some will be on benefits because they are drug dependent ffs.

What if someone did test positive? Would their CB be stopped? Wouldn't that affect their children too?

If people are drug dependant then they are breaking the law and shouldnt be entitled to benefits surely??????? If thats not the case then I shall become a criminal, do fuck all and still get money of the government

Blowhole, what effects the kids is their parents doing drugs and I am sorry if those people put themselves above the kids then they dont deserve to have them

No I said everyone working or not should be tested but hey you didnt answer the question about you, funny that. Drugs are illegal and no one should be doing them but why is it only the forces that get checked

I don't have a drug habit but this is more about benefit bashing than drugs anyway. By people who get their ideas from facebook ffs

I will happily be tested and I am most definitely not on benefits! I have to much self respect and pride in my family to throw away my life on drugs, shall we test you onagar?
