Morrison's Supermarket and Hygiene

An interesting incident occurred at the Aylesbury branch of Morrison?s the supermarket this afternoon.

I had gone into the store on the way home and whilst at the back observed a member of staff wheeling their push bike through the store. Since they were greeted by other members of staff, I would guess that this was not an isolated incidence and acceptable thing to do. Well given that bikes go on the road where all sorts of un-mentionables are lurking, not least dog pooh, I don?t consider walking a street bike through a store selling food to be a particularly hygienic thing.

So I called the Customer Service department at their head office in Bradford. When I suggested that it should not be the case that staff brought bikes through the store, I was told it was no different to people taking pushchairs or roller-skates into the store and would I expect them to ban those as well. When I questioned this still further, I was told I was being silly. Maybe it is just me, but I left my shopping behind and went to Tesco instead.

There is nothing on bike wheels that isn't on shoes/pushchair wheels/wheelchair wheels/trolley wheels. YABU

Ah, kwik save. Now there's a place I've not thought about for a good ten years. The one when I was a student had a kind of prison-style turnstile to trap you inside. I clearly remember someone throwing up on the steps inside, and nobody clearing it up. Now that is definitely unhygienic.

GeraldineAubergine · 19/09/2011 21:34

I was nearly crushed to death by a collapsing pyramid of 'oakleaf' corned beef or othersuch shitty brand in kwik save when I was about ten. My father had removed the bottom tier imagining it to be a suitable foodstuff for pugs. I still have the horror thinking about it today all these years later.

HandsOffOurLand · 19/09/2011 22:13
Grin

Was it not NoFrills Corned Beef?

What used to amaze me in Kwik Save was that people bought tins of what looked like dog food, only they were ready meals in a tin.

MaureenMLove · 19/09/2011 22:19

Welllll, I think that about clears that one up OP. Yes, YABU! Grin

Hilarious!

NickyNackyNooNoo · 19/09/2011 22:25

BimboNo5 · 19/09/2011 23:30

OMFG- how did I miss the willy willy willy thread? Im PMSL reading it now! Thats legendary!

TheDetective · 19/09/2011 23:42

DF works for Morrisons, and he assures me that a bike is nothing in comparison to what the customers get up to... on his first day, someone had shit in an aisle! A woman regularly comes in and pisses on the floor, and once over a loaf of bread! People come in with god knows what under their finger nails, haven't washed for like, ever, and then finger the fruit and veg ROFL!

He's told me many a tale of disgusting customers! A bike must be one of the cleanest things in the store tbh, cleaner than many customers I suspect!!

Ps, to the lady who put 'standing ovulation' - this made me chuckle rather a lot!!!!

I once saw a family huddled around a little girl in the children's clothes section of Asda. She was bobbed down and I thought they were shielding her from view while she tried something on (this branch doesn't have changing rooms).

They weren't. They were letting her wee on the floor.

Then they just walked off and left the puddle on the floor without a backwards glance. They were within sight of the toilets at the time.

I wouldn't worry about bike wheels if I were you.

I am quite bothered by the shopping trolley handles after reading this thread though. But it was worth it for "willy willy willy".

stepawayfromtheecclescakes · 20/09/2011 10:18

I am so Shock at human poo in the aisles, wtf .... how I mean... just how? surely no one just squats and no one says anything Shock I have led a sheltered life

VivaLeBeaver · 20/09/2011 22:32

It gets worse. Just seen a new ad and there are people taking wheelbarrows in the store! It shouldn't be allowed. The filth!

differentnameforthis · 21/09/2011 04:04

Well I don't buy food off the floor, so I don't see the issue.

WorzselMummage · 21/09/2011 04:52

I came on to call you a nutter OP but I see 113 people got there before me Grin

Whatmeworry · 21/09/2011 08:26

And Morrisons told you to get knotted instead of a standard cringing apology to the nutter customer who is always right ....I wish more companies would do the same (resolves to shop more at Morrisons in future)

UKSky · 21/09/2011 20:12

But they do it in Tescos too, you just didn't see one when you were in there. YABVU

PeneloPeePitstop · 21/09/2011 20:57

You want to hear something lovely?
I formerly worked for one of the larger supermarket chains. One of their workers had a bit of an 'accident' and produced a piss trail from her station in the store right the way through the store, into staff quarters.

And it was left there and not cleaned up.

SquidgyBiscuits · 21/09/2011 21:09

This is brilliant. BTW OP, you're a moron.

But this made me belly laugh;

Illegitimate Mon 19-Sep-11 17:19:57
Dirty bastards.
You should of slapped the bike riding cunt round the face with a big bloody steak

PeneloPeePitstop · 21/09/2011 21:24

Only if you then put the steak back on the shelf.
