So fucking what if it's in the wrong place?

Who resigned at MumsNetHQ and made people self appointed mods, prowling the boards for misdemeanours against topics?

OP posts:

My response to posters who whinge ask why it matters if a thread is in the wrong place is usually "start an antenatal/ovulations/thread asking about piles in S&B. After all, it doesn't matter

Oh dear, Lissielou your double posting is going to cause PC BIWI to gibber.... :o

AbsDuWolef · 14/09/2011 09:12

YANBU, it's getting annoying and they're coming across as snotty school prefects. FFS, I got told off for posting a thread about a wedding dress in S&B. You'd think - dress, could go in S&B but apparently my logic was flawed and I should have posted it in weddings.

Yes, some stupid banal totally not AIBU-appropriate threads do get started, but they're the exception. I've seen some people being told off for putting something which was a valid AIBU in AIBU.

bibbitybobbityhat · 14/09/2011 11:58

Poor Lissie, you can't really namechange and go undercover at the moment, even if you wanted to!

Honeydragon · 14/09/2011 12:22

wedding dress = style & beauty

VelvetSnow · 14/09/2011 12:43

I don't think the POWA Tampon brigade are even doing their job. Grin

I don't know why I did this, but after lurking on the powa tampon thread for a while I made a mental note to post "powa tampon" on any thread where I have seen a comment regarding which topic it should be in....so far, I have only posted "powa tampon" twice. What's that all about then?

So my conclusion a) there are not that many threads being started in the wrong topic b) the police are not doing their jobs or c) I'm not spending enough time on MN

Happy to be told I'm a weirdo. :)

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 14/09/2011 12:44

Velvet, you're a weirdo :o

HTH

And where's VelWhip?

RedRubyBlue · 14/09/2011 12:46

What if I want to find out if IABU to think my wedding dress is stylish?

VelvetSnow · 14/09/2011 12:47

VelWhip is sleeping in my bra

:)

LadyBeagleEyes · 14/09/2011 12:53

There's also an etiquette thread.

CauldronsTrulyReign · 14/09/2011 12:54

And a Ford topic.

Hmm
SayCoolNowSayWhip · 14/09/2011 12:55

Honeydragon · 14/09/2011 13:01

uanbu to by a wedding dress because I bought one and everyone wants to be like me
Seriously, your posting this shit? Do you not have real problems? fuck off op
Hey! Who said only cunts get married why are you calling me a cunt for being married?

I haven't read the whole thread but uabu top post pictures of wedding dresses you could upset someone recently divorced

Seriously, how would that help you find out a wdding dress is stylish? Grin

RedRubyBlue · 14/09/2011 13:26

Hello. We're a little late to spot this thread but we just wanted to say that we agree that having everything in AIBU is not ideal, and we positively welcome posters pointing out (nicely) to other posters that an AIBU thread may, in fact, sit better in another topic.

We have lots of very lovely other topics, after all, and it would be a shame not to use them.

YANBU

I'd love a mumsnet vote (!) on how many people actually care

The thread police make me think of those people in offices who post inane, passive agressive notes on the staff fridge.

bibbitybobbityhat · 16/09/2011 20:37

Yes, I'd love a vote on who actually cares. Bring it on!

If the "couldn't care less where people post" brigade comes out on top then at least we'll have a clearer picture of how Mumsnet is going to be in future and can decide whether or not to stick around.

How about a poll mnhq? Would you kindly consider it Grin?

southeastastra · 16/09/2011 20:41

i think if you do really do care you use all the topics anyway

maybe let AIBU have it's own separate area, like the buying/selling topics go in the end Grin
