So fucking what if it's in the wrong place?

Who resigned at MumsNetHQ and made people self appointed mods, prowling the boards for misdemeanours against topics?

Also, the "I'm posting here as there's more traffic" thing is really bloody irritating.

Is your post that much more important than everyone elses?

The traffic is all here because you make it that way.

Bet you jump queues too, you utter bastard.

Generic you, obv.

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/09/2011 22:46

How do you mean coolwhip?

Hassled · 13/09/2011 22:47

So yes, I've remembered my point now. My point is that the Thread Police are the Guardian Angels of MN. We should be applauding them.

Follett · 13/09/2011 22:48

*applauds them. Mightily!

IrmaMuthafucker · 13/09/2011 22:48

Yabu. If you put your thread in the wrong place hide topic doesn't work so well.

I can't give even the tiniest shit whether someone calls PFB Jane or Alfred so I hide baby names topic. It then irritates me when they post AIBU to call pfb Jane or Alfred. But it really pisses me off when the post the thread title Am I BU to... making me open the thread expecting a nice bunfight and getting vapid musings.

Bohica · 13/09/2011 22:49

No not at all, until recently looking through all the different sections I didn't know half of them existed and I didn't know we have a menopause section until this very evening.

It's all light hearted and I only ever read Mn through active convo, no harm intended.

Tortington · 13/09/2011 22:49

huzzah for thread police

yabu you twonk

worraliberty · 13/09/2011 22:50

I do understand their 'point' but I can't help feeling a bit embarrassed for them that they take an internet forum so seriously, they want to become armchair moderators Blush

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 13/09/2011 22:50

It just seems every day now there's another thread about someone being pissed off about MN - it's either quiches or people spending too much time on MN, or MN doing something wrong...

Maybe I'm just being grumpy....

Follett · 13/09/2011 22:52

The worst, the very worst....

Am I being unreasonable...to have been told my shoes are ugly

Am I being unreasonable...that sil didn't eat my lasagne

What?? You bloody fool.

IrmaMuthafucker · 13/09/2011 22:52

This is not just an internet forum Worra! This is Mumsnet!

Honeydragon · 13/09/2011 22:54

I tend to suggest people post in the correct topic if they naively post in AIBU for help / advice and its something that will obviously get them horribly flamed, but probably not the help they need, as those people are on the relevant boards helping each other.

Or we could get rid of everything and just have chat? Problem solved

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/09/2011 22:56

Ok coolwhip, yes people do get fed up with mn periodically. It seems to be contagious. Whole swathes of people leave at the same time. I suspect if a lot of us old-timers who are frustrated about AIBU were to leave then some of the tensions and snippiness you are seeing about the place would just disappear.

Whatmeworry · 13/09/2011 22:56

Also, the "I'm posting here as there's more traffic" thing is really bloody irritating

And then they get upset that AIBU is not supportive/gentle/respectful etc etc enough.

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/09/2011 22:58

I've noticed a new thing of people posting the same question in AIBU plus the relevant topic. I suppose God loves a trier.

bibbity Saycool isn't on about old gimmers long serving upstanding grumpy Mnetters. She's on about what seems to be an influx of people who've registered, stomped around for 5 minutes and then pposted

AIBU to think this place is shit?

AIBU to think you all get along to well which makes you smug superior bastards

Aibu to fucking hate you all

and so on and so forth.

(I stand to be corrected... but I surmised this was what she alluding to with quiche comment)

I'm just thinking MN is drifting ever further away from its ethos.
For parents by parents, right?

But now it just seems to be a fight club. Rather than getting and giving support, people seem to be going out of their way to start a fight.

And agreed, some of the AIBU topics are fairly ridiculous but SO WHAT?

Harrumph.
