to really want a 'hide poster' function?

Argh. Every so often there is a really infuriating, broken record type poster who's on every single bloody thread, I wish I could just hide them..

I know this has been done before but argh..

What an unpleasant post. How to make lots of people feel insecure and worried it might be them. Why don't you just be upfront and disagree with the poster you want to hide, rather than start a bitchy thread about someone?

ConstanceNoring · 13/09/2011 10:02

I know it can't be me, I'm too slow at thinking and typing to be on loads of threads.

must try harder

takethisonehereforastart · 13/09/2011 10:11

I saw this last night and wondered if it was me and so didn't post.

Then this morning I thought 'well, if it's me, I might as well piss her off once more on purpose!' Grin

I do tend to stick to just a couple of the sections, and AIBU is the main one. And I do tend to repeat certain experiences (with my MiL or about losing my babies) if I think they are relevant to the thread or the OP.

So the description of the person could be me. Sorry OP. If it helps, I like seeing your posts because I like your name.

MaryZ

I love you and I LOVE the idea of being able to pick a colour for arseholes.

We should totally do that.

Yes Filibear. Brown. Dark Dark Brown. So dark that it's actually black and then I don't have to read their fucking annoying stupid wank splutterings.

I would just like a 'like' button, a la Facebook, so that we can let a poster know when they've done a grooooovy post.

ShirleyKnotFrotGrot · 13/09/2011 10:26

I love you too old girl.

See now, people could make my posts be dark dark brown and they wouldn't have to read my pervy, gropy, licky SEXUAL HARRASSMENT posts.

It could pretty much sum up any single day in my office, to be fair.

The other problem with a hide poster function would be this; missing out on good/funny posts from a previously annoying poster because you got the hump with them elsewhere and hid them in a fit of piqué.

I can't be the only one who's thought 'ugh, what a nobber' about a poster then laughed like a rabid hyena at them on another thread?

But you could "unhide" a person though Bups.

You could "Hide" them and then if you were on a thread and everyone was doing:

PMSL @ Hiddenposter
Grin Hiddenposter! HA HA YOU ARE SO FUNNY!

etc, etc

then you could "unhide" them and see if they've changed their dastardly ways or not.

I would only hide a small few people. They consistently make me want to poink my eyes out with a spoon and they NEVER make me think "Oh, so witty!" so.

It's never going to happen anyway.

There are two posters that I would hide. Until a month ago, it would have been three but then one of them brought the lulz to a thread and I decided I thought she was an alright sort. I'm fickle like that. And easily won over.

Yep.

TheOriginalFAB · 13/09/2011 11:30

Usually there is the argument that the thread won't make any sense if some posters posts are hidden but if you are that bothered by posters that you want to hide their posts, you have to accept that it will mess up some threads for you.

I am sure there would be a lot of people who would want to hide me but they don't have to read the posts or just never look at the posters name.

IME there is only one poster who I really dislike and tbh we rarely are on the same threads which is good as she sometimes mentions me in a very childish way.

ColdSancerre · 13/09/2011 11:30

I wouldn't hide anyone I love you all. Everyone single one of you.

MrsVoltar · 13/09/2011 11:33

I would hide ColdSancerre because when I see your name it makes me want Wine when I'm trying to cut down/be good Grin

JarethTheGoblinKing · 13/09/2011 11:35

I like the idea of changing the colour of the background of a certain poster, then it's really obvious that they're hidden and then if you do want to see the text all you have to do is highlight it. Probably the simplest route for tech as well :)

at fucking annoying stupid wank splutterings
