to really want a 'hide poster' function?

Argh. Every so often there is a really infuriating, broken record type poster who's on every single bloody thread, I wish I could just hide them..

I know this has been done before but argh..

If we do get the hide poster function, can someone pm me with good suggestions of who to hide? I can't think of anyone I'd like to keep permanently hidden.

Maryz - agree about the sockpuppetry. I've got my MN set so that the OP shows up in grey. Any subsequent posts by the same person under a name change should do the same IMO.

OK MN - how about the option to hide a poster so that on a thread is just says 'poster hidden', then if there is confusion or not you can choose whether or not to 'unhide poster' ?

All my OP posts are green and my posts are pink! Helps me to remember where I am on a thread. Mostly I generally depending on the top only read the OP's posts. Unless its real juicy.

And that's why MNHQ would never have a hide poster button, just imagine how sparse AIBU would be if everyone was able to ignore their nemesises.

Seriously, if everyone hid posters they frown upon, we would all be posting to ourselves.

Which is why I suggested a quota of 3 posters. tbh I 'd struggle to think of more than one :)

Maybe even just one poster, so you can just hide the one person who's really shitting all over MN at the moment (for me, anyway )

There won't be an automatic email notification will there? Like 'you've been hidden, someone thinks you're a twat but we're not telling you who'. Because I think I'd wibble a bit.

Nah, they wouldn't do that. If nothing else it'd spark a million threads along the lines of 'AIBU to think that I only help people on MN so why has someone hidden me?' and MN couldn't be arsed with all that moany shite

But Trillian they wouldn't be able to hide a NCer - otherwise if I hid you (and you only) and you NCed I'd be able to link the two. So if you NC everyone can see your posts, whether they'd usually choose to ignore you or not.

The only way round that would be to hide anyone you have hidden, and then half a dozen other posters at random :o A double blind hiding
