To be outraged at discovering a long chin hair?

Growing under my jawline?
What? When did this happen and who put it there?!
I have religiously checked my face and chin since entering menopause and discovered other random hairs but how did this one evade me until it reached at least an inch long?
Disgraceful ... and I blame the government.

This thread has cheered me up no end, I thought it was just me that had thick chin hairs glinting in the sunlight, having mysteriously grown extra fast and escaped the last round of plucking. That and the moustache. And yes, Ruby, you do have all this to come so no youthful smugness as it will come back and bite you on your (hairy) arse.

ceebeegeebies · 14/09/2011 08:57

ruby I am only 37 so not really ancient. The moustache has been a problem for as long as I can remember whereas the chin hair is a relatively new thing Wink

I have found others like me !
I have a few that grow , and know where they are , it's part of my daily routine to search them out .
They're not there everyday , but the satisfaction of being able to tweeze them out !
And , oh yes ! the horror of finding a new one that's about an inch long ,and wasn't there yesterday !
I have the odd White eyebrow as well .
Thinks about name changing to Doilooklikeahairytourist.
PS am quite old (51 sob ) and have always been quite hairy , have a sugaring session permanently booked , and like everything it does get worse as you get older.

ONE hair? I have to WAX FFS!!! :o

MinesaBottle · 14/09/2011 10:12

I have dark hair and pale skin. I have to watch like a hawk for the appearance of what seems to be a small piece of black wire on my chin. I also get 2 or 3 straight, thick, black hairs in my cleavage area and my pubes are very slowly extending up my stomach and down my thighs. I keep a pair of tweezers handy at all times. I?m only in my mid-30s, am expecting to turn into Chewbacca when I hit the menopause :(

I am 41 and have white eyebrow hairs, chin hair - lot's of both white and black Grin a moustache, a weird white hair that grows out of the side of my face, mole hair, grey pubes, breast hair, neck hair (a lot of) a monobrow and a very weird long black wiry hair that has grown out of my head about 4 times in my life, it is really spooky as it just appears much longer than all the other hairs and is almost like wire it is so thick, coarse and curly....ewww

Do I win??

Toffeefudgecake · 14/09/2011 11:03

Ceebee - don't shave! My MIL shaves her chin and I can always feel the stubble when she kisses me. Can often see it too.

She also chops her long eyebrow hairs with scissors.

I have made a mental note to wax/Immac/tweeze if I ever have chin hairs (only one odd one so far).

cingulare · 14/09/2011 11:09

i think i'd die if i lost my tweezers

i dread the idea of being too ill or incapacitated to pluck

a tactless beautician said to me she couldn't understand ''why i bother, at my age '' Thanks, sister. You won't be expecting a tip then.

ceebeegeebies · 14/09/2011 11:18

Toffee thanks for the advice Grin I can't Immac my chin as I use medication for acne (specifically on my chin) which reacts badly with Immac and far too many to tweeze so shaving seems the best option! They are very fine hairs so don't leave stubble afaik but I will keep my eye on that!

BelleEnd · 14/09/2011 11:26

I am only 28 but I have 2 jet black wiry hairs that grow under my chin, like wire wool. And if I pluck, them, they are back within a week. I will be like Brian Blessed by the time I'm 40. :(

RedRubyBlue · 14/09/2011 11:26

If you have a mole surgically removed do the hairs stop growing as well or does it not go down 'that deep'?

Stupid random question asked for no particular reason

[whistles]

Jins · 14/09/2011 11:40

It should remove the follicle as well

Won't stop another one appearing somewhere else though

bobblywobblymum · 15/09/2011 18:43

I am nearly 42 and have had chin hair for as long as I can remember and have been plucking religiously for years, as well as the nipple hair I now have 1 white pube, 1 white eyelash and my head hair is thinning! Does it get any better than this?:)

HairyGrotter · 15/09/2011 18:47

I epilate my neck...I like pain it would seem Confused IT HURTS MUMMY, HURTS

bobblywobblymum · 15/09/2011 18:53

Epilating! OMG you brave soul!

Whoamireally · 15/09/2011 19:50

Welcome home Whoamireally, welcome home

all4u · 15/09/2011 20:01

I agree - why did our mothers never tell us these things? Mind you the young can't imagine being old and it has always come as a shock to each generation I'm sure! At least we have tweezers, hair colourants, tummy control hose and sun protection in everything...
And so many young people are so fat! I shudder to think what they will look like when the flush of youth gives way to pendulous , sweaty...yuk. We will be the 'elegant elderlies' of earlier times they will look back on with envy...in fact we will probably outlive them.

Whoamireally · 15/09/2011 20:04

I am SURE I had my chin hair electrolysed a few years ago, so why is it back?

I am scared of being the 'invisible' woman - you know, when you hit your late 40's and let it all go...and sometimes when my mum kisses me on the cheek, I can feel her prickly chin hair and want to cringe Blush

bobblywobblymum · 15/09/2011 20:19

You're telling me!

ShowMeTheMonet · 15/09/2011 20:24

Best thread ever.
