You are not old enough to get married if you want to wear one of these

OP posts:
HeidiKat · 09/09/2011 16:32

I like the Tiana one, I don't see anything wrong with the dresses. Some women want to feel like a princess on their wedding day, others get married in biker leathers, there is no right or wrong just each to their own. YABU.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 09/09/2011 16:32

Aarrgggghhhhh...will we ever be done with the strapless wedding dresses?

Although I do quite like the Jasmine one - if I absolutely had to, you understand Blush

ImeldaM · 09/09/2011 16:37

My Big Fat Disney Wedding? Grin

I bet Katie Price wishes she'd got one of them (if she didn't)

grumplestilskin · 09/09/2011 16:38

I like em especially Jasmine, but also the first one. I'm old enough to have been married about 3 times by now for good chunks of time (but have only tied the knot once, been with DH for nearly a decade!)

I love when people really go for it with their wedding dresses Grin. I didn't mine was quite old fashioned, traditional and timeless and all that (and not strapless members of the MN jury) but if I were to do it again I'ld be less 'sensible" and more daring!

AIBU to ask the dress haters to link what they deem to be acceptable dresses please? Grin, interested to see what you'ld prefer (i.e. a big fat nosey pants!)

Malificence · 09/09/2011 16:45

What's with the vitriol against Disney? Confused
Mind you, you either get the whole Disney thing or you don't .

The dresses aren't my taste but someone obviously buys them, if you are getting married in Disney with a backdrop of the castle, they are an obvious choice. I love seeing couples roaming around Disneyworld with their wedding ears on. Smile

I dare one of you to come over to the Dibb boards and diss these dresses, it won't be pretty. Wink

I can see my DD in a couple of them, she's as big a Disney addict as I am.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 09/09/2011 16:45

Floaty with sleeves gets my vote - along the lines of these (from a v quick google search whilst admiring the 4 year old's art work...) here

Malificence · 09/09/2011 16:47

bats when you've been as many times as we have - it is a religion. Grin Disneyworld Orlando is my favourite place in the world.

grumplestilskin · 09/09/2011 16:48

I usually avoid disney I think it's an awful organisation, it's the dress designs I'm okay with and prob wouldn't know who it was by if I saw someone wearing them

if I was to BUY a dress like that I'ld look for a similar one from a different company.

But just as dress designs, by themselves, I think they're nice.

Peachy · 09/09/2011 16:53

What Iliketomoveit said

Disney + adults = shudder.

the first and last ones look as if the bride's topping of whipped cream has slipped and landed on her skirt, those dresses are odd

Honeydragon · 09/09/2011 17:00

I wore a Alfred Angelo dress. They are lovely dresses. If you go direct to his website they are mixed in with the others yo wouldn't pin point it is Disney. I think it's a sweet quirk.

TrillianAstra · 09/09/2011 17:00

They don't look noticeable Disney to me. They're just wedding dresses.

lynniep · 09/09/2011 17:09

well ignoring what they are called, and thus the theme, I dont have an issue. think some of them are lovely. In fact I want to get married again so I can wear a big flouncy frock this time (stamps foot)

TrillianAstra · 09/09/2011 17:15

I have just shown this link to a friend who is getting married next year.

Midori1999 · 09/09/2011 18:14

I found when looking at wedding dresses, you kind of get 'immune' to how over the top some of them are. At first, most of thwm look like huge silly meringues, and then after a couple of months of looking you end up thinking that you'll only get one chance to wear it, so why not just go for it, and the merignues don't seem as bad.

I have seen far more over the top dresses than the disney ones though.

Honeydragon · 09/09/2011 18:23

Yes like mine...it had a 6 foot train Blush

BarbieLovesKen · 09/09/2011 19:10

Oh they are gorgeous!! I'm already married (damnit) Sad

LadyOfTheManor · 09/09/2011 19:11

Christ, I can't think of anything worse than wanting to "be a Princess for a day". Some women need to grow up.

mustdash · 09/09/2011 19:13

that's the best laugh I've had in ages.

aStarInStrangeways · 09/09/2011 19:13

I'd rather be queen for a lifetime Wink

Honeydragon · 09/09/2011 19:25

Lady, it's all just marketing shite. I went for a big old girlie dress as I live in jeans or overalls and thought fuck it it's only one day.

The pint glass in hand rather ruined the over all image, though Wink

Malificence · 09/09/2011 19:28

Lady, are you a miserable old bag all the time?
"some women need to grow up" FFS, you need to grow up. Wink

Save your vitriol for things that really matter.

GloriaVanderbilt · 09/09/2011 19:30

I love the sleeping beauty one but how would you fit through the door in that

GloriaVanderbilt · 09/09/2011 19:41

That second Hello Kitty one, is it real cat fur? and quite liking devilish red kitties further down

GloriaVanderbilt · 09/09/2011 19:43

Awimba, pardon this q but if you were 8 months gone and wearing that, could people not see your knickers? Grin

LadyOfTheManor · 09/09/2011 19:43

It makes me sick that fully grown women want to be a "princess". I mean seriously, literally grow up...you aren't spun the ridiculous lifestyle as an adult as you were a child...and I don't agree with wanker designers making a fortune out of dressing women a certain way and selling women a certain dream. It's just sad that in this day and age women are still falling for it.
