to think attitudes to disabilities in a themepark should be better...

We have exit passes for DS with ASD.

AIBU that "I'm going to kick their head in" cos they're "queue jumping", was neither clever nor original (especially after the third time my DP heard it during the day)

AIBU that pushing DS out the way (in the chest with some force) because he failed to respond instantly to your demand he "get out of your way" (whist waiting at the disabled exit) was just plain unpleasant Angry (I was bending down to move him at the time)

So many more similar incidents through the day.

I normal circumstances I wouldn't want to wish my son's disability on anyone, nor the days over backache that a themepark trip entitled before we knew about exit passes (from carrying DS through Queuelines kicking and screaming) however....

We shall retreat to Chessington where we have always found people lovely!!!

alice-will you learn to read I am NOT suggesting they wait in line.I am saying they turn up at the ride given atime to return equivalent to the queuing time but not allowed to go on any other rides in the mean time
That is MORE THAN FAIR!!

Bear in mind the OP asked a question which i answered .Politely.Yet many have resorted to swearing and name calling.Frankly with this aggressive rude attitude I am really not surprised that you and your SN children have so many probl;ems with the general public
And to call a child a twat , a cow and to want to poke her eyes out because she is freaked out by your child having a major tantrum is just vile! You should be ashamed

Mouseface · 04/09/2011 21:13

Don't Alton Towers do a timer thing? When they tell you what time to go to a certain ride an queue? In fact, I think it may be called the Queue Buster?

Oh spiderpig, why did you have to write that? You are beyond help aren't you.

'and'

Claw3 · 04/09/2011 21:16

Spiderpig, im sure it has already been explained to you on this thread, but here goes, why my ds finds it difficult to queue. He has autism.

  1. He has communication difficulties so doesnt always understand my instructions or what is said to him. Many children with autism have no concept of queueing.
  1. He has sensory difficulties, so finds it extremely difficult to stand still.
  1. He has sensory difficulties, so he strongly dislikes being touched or brushed against.
  1. He has continence issues, so when he needs to go, he needs to go quickly.
  1. Because of his disability, he suffers with severe anxiety, which can be triggered by any of the above, which in turn makes him self harm.

6 A day out is stressful enough and if there is anything that could make the day any easier for him, it is most welcome.

Fast tracking is not a 'perk' for disabled people, it would be something that could make a trip to a theme park possible, instead of impossible.

Spiderpig - try actually reading the posts would you?

That is how most 'passes' work - a timed pass.

Where is Pagwatch's apology?

Grin at Pag and Riven.

Spiderpig you have the wits of a goose.

ProfessionallyOffendedGoblin · 04/09/2011 21:20

'But the spiderpigs in the queue were all muttering.'

A new noun, thank you Riven. I feel it may come in useful. Smile

ChippingIn · 04/09/2011 21:21

Arya - that is uncalled for.

ChippingIn · 04/09/2011 21:21

I personally know a lovely & intelligent goose.

Claw3 · 04/09/2011 21:23

Thank you Mouseface Smile

spiderpig8 · 04/09/2011 21:28

No,claw3 still hasn't read it.Timed passes (if that's what they are called) are fine with me.Going straight to the front of the queue is not.GET IT YET??

Pagwtch - I am sorry i didn't read your post correctly.I think that was because it seems totally irrelevant to the thread that your NT daughter has private swimming lessons.

i am a very polite person (unlike most of the name calling aggressive posters on here) and would never heckle a disabled person because the system -good,bad or indifferent is not their doing.

2shoes · 04/09/2011 21:29

spiderpig8 pmsl at the idea that you have been polite.

wtf is fair about being disabled, yet you think disabled people should que to be fair,
go back under your bridge please.

Claw3 · 04/09/2011 21:36

Spiderpig I think you are missing the point, the child would not have the same understanding as a 'normal' child would. The children who get passes, get passes because they have severe behavioural difficulties.

So you want the child with servere behavioural difficulties, lack of communication, sensory difficulties, continence issues, severe anxiety, self harming to stroll around for an hour inbetween each ride? This would be impossible.

Without fast track passes, many disabled children would not be able to go to a theme park.

spiderpig8 · 04/09/2011 21:37

2shoes -please point out to me where I have sworn or name-called on this thread.
I still wait to here what is wrong with timed passes???

spiderpig8 · 04/09/2011 21:38

saying things you don't agree with does not=being a troll, a twat or even wrong.
