to think attitudes to disabilities in a themepark should be better...

We have exit passes for DS with ASD.

AIBU that "I'm going to kick their head in" cos they're "queue jumping", was neither clever nor original (especially after the third time my DP heard it during the day)

AIBU that pushing DS out the way (in the chest with some force) because he failed to respond instantly to your demand he "get out of your way" (whist waiting at the disabled exit) was just plain unpleasant Angry (I was bending down to move him at the time)

So many more similar incidents through the day.

I normal circumstances I wouldn't want to wish my son's disability on anyone, nor the days over backache that a themepark trip entitled before we knew about exit passes (from carrying DS through Queuelines kicking and screaming) however....

We shall retreat to Chessington where we have always found people lovely!!!

Perhaps she should tell them as Riven said, they're welcome to the exit pass but first we have to either damage their brains or their spines.....

tabulahrasa · 04/09/2011 16:33

I'd tell her to tell them where to get the passes, then if they've a mind to they can go waste their time trying to get a pass

Mouseface · 04/09/2011 16:33

Exactly Glitter Sad

unpa1dcar3r · 04/09/2011 16:39

I hope she tells them where to go Mumeeee! Politely of course Wink

Yes we also went to pleasure beach Lottie and it was a total disaster. Felt like poking one girl of about 15 in the bloody eye when we queued outside the 4d cinema cos eldest was having a meltdown and youngest was just hyper and fidgety. He accidentally brushed against her and it was like she'd been touched with caustic soda, silly little cow.
Ended up just announcing loudly that at least we were entertaining the natives, felt like passing the bloody hat round too!
Although we did get in for £12 each pass instead of £19 or something.

mumeeee · 04/09/2011 16:41

Glitternickers She had thought of telling them this but has managed nit to actually say it. Mouseface yes she does get some nasty comments.

LottieJenkins · 04/09/2011 17:24

unpa I didnt know i could have got in cheaper.......... Hmm
I did book beforehand so they were £15 but couldnt see anything on their site and they sure as hell didnt tell me when i rang up to ask about fast tracking! Angry

unpa1dcar3r · 04/09/2011 18:03

Hmm again, lack of awareness and training!
I got in a little cheaper at PH but paid £75 overall I cos took my 2 nephews too who are not disabled. Then my mate turned up with some BOGOF deals the next day. I could've screamed, could've got in for £50, which was not inc disability/carer 'discount' ! Gutted.
But on the upside (apart form that bloody woman making such loud comments) the boys had a great time, and my nephews encouraged them to go on all the rides pretty much; before they've stuck to the tea cups and carousel! So that was a first for them. Smile

LottieJenkins · 04/09/2011 18:08

My ds will go on everything and i mean everything.......... this in turns means of course that i have to go on everything..........Which included the stomach churning Tower of Terror at Dland Paris!!!! This ride drops you thirteen floors in a lift!!!!!!! It was the only ride picture that i bought because it is so hysterically funny. I am screaming at Wilf who is laughing in my face. I am clutching his wrist which is white as are my knuckles!! When we eventually got off i was tottering about feeling very ill when he came up to me tapped me on the arm and said"Mumma" "Yes Wilf" "Wimp Mumma you Wimp!!" Hmm Grin

I've got to hand it to you, spiderpig8, you're like an old boxer in a slushy second-rate film about the "fight game", you always come back for more.

You will see that unpa1dcar3 only felt like poking Fifteen in the eye when she so well deserved it; not that she actually did it.

OctonautsOnRepeat · 04/09/2011 18:38

Wonder how you would feel if the boot was on the other foot SpiderPig. If you ever had a child with a disability or were brain-damaged in an accident.

Actually, it would be worse for you because you would know how awful and bigoted people are.

pag was right, I wouldn't swap my son and his disabilities for a life in your head. You ignorant, selfish , bigoted cow.

spiderpig8 · 04/09/2011 18:46

I think 2 solutions would be

1)that disabled people can use a separate entrance and don't have to stand in the same queue as normal folk, but they have to wait the same length of time that the queue is, remain in the same general area during the wait and can't be in 2 queues simultaneously.i don't see how anyone could object to that!
2) Passes available to anyone SN or NT for a pupplement which allows their place to be electronically held in the queue

2shoes · 04/09/2011 18:51

or allow disabled people to not que, and get on the ride quicker.
spider read the thread, it is explained why queuing is hard for some disabled people.

2shoes · 04/09/2011 18:51

oh and fuck off with "normal"

DandyLioness you were imagining hitting someone with a cue weren't you lol

Glitterknickaz · 04/09/2011 18:54

Actually life would be so much easier if the bigots were made to stay home wouldn't it.

We can but dream.

Actually mummee if your dd is that bothered she could get round it by telling the ignoramuses that any issues with park policy should be taken up with management... they can try educating the shit for brains (not that it would work)

Kladdkaka · 04/09/2011 18:57

'that disabled people can use a separate entrance and don't have to stand in the same queue as normal folk' Hmm

SauvignonBlanche · 04/09/2011 18:57

" Normal folk" Angry

Jesus, I've heard it all now! Shock

Glitterknickaz · 04/09/2011 18:58

Yeah, I'd be more offended by being called normal though Wink
That's boring.

PersonalClown · 04/09/2011 19:05

I'm going for a bath.. I may say something I'll regret if I give IT any more thought.

5inthebed · 04/09/2011 19:09

And which queue would bigots be in?
