My friends think I'm weird. Me and my husband have had long conversations talking about what we'd do if Z-day ever came. Admittedly we're both big horror film geeks (which could be seen as a bit weird to be fair).

Does anyone else do this or is it just us?

It would be jolly handy if it did. As long as I had fellow local MNers to help, we could steal it and sail round to get everyone who can make it to the coast. If it's at Mablethorpe I'll be stealing a coach and loading it with provisions. Plus looting stick, there's a decent sized Co-op and Lidl there.

If not, I'll just have to travel cross country with the DDs. But I'll be riding, horses are more manoeuvrable and don't need roads.

People just make up stories like intelligent zombies and irradiated super powered ones to scare you Grin Pay no attention. You"ll believe in witches next....!

They will if there's enough of us. If not I will just have to make the ultimate sacrifice

Sarah, possibly the powers that be would take you on to the Ark Royal as a specialist Zombie Consultant?
Then you could talk them round to hiring a mumsnet crew.

bullet234 · 01/09/2011 22:27

The thing with zombies is that they get what they want through sheer force of numbers. On a one to one level they are pretty weedy. So, the thing to do is to be there when the very first zombie is created and then you bash them on the head and Bob's your parent's brother.

CubiksRube · 01/09/2011 22:29

DP has discovered this thread. He thinks it's crazy.

If the Zombies come, I will have to abandon him. It's a shame, but that's post-apocalytpic existence.

Babycham, I think you're actually on to something, Z Consultants will be in demand, particularly if the internet goes. down. I'm a recruitment consultant ... potential to start collecting zombie-based CVs now?!

SarahStratton · 01/09/2011 22:32

You think not Beer? :(

I suppose I could use my Babyliss Big Hair? Hmm

babycham42 · 01/09/2011 22:32

I"ve given away my hand now for my own post apocalypse survival strategy Cubiks .
Foolish of me...

Cubiks, I am relying on you to get me inside the Ark Royal. Particularly if it is moved to Mablethorpe. They will need local knowledge.

Catsdontcare · 01/09/2011 22:38

See both dc's are back at school next week and I was pondering what project I could start and this thread has decided it. Full zombie plan.

If you serious planners have pets have you listed them in your plan in anyway i.e save, cook them, use them as bate?

SarahStratton · 01/09/2011 22:40

It depends on what goes down. If it's Zombies, I'll take them with me. If it's bird flu, then sorry but Mortimer will be left behind. As will Arabel. They will be the enemy then.

LittleDog fits in a bag. He can go in the OFRS.

In any eventuality if I stayed at home it"d be cook. (well something more serious than the eventuality of the Co-op running out of sausages obviously....)

Catsdontcare · 01/09/2011 22:45

Hmm think I'll throw a kilo of food in the conservatory and ceremoniously close the blind.

I always thought it would be wise to stay put clearly I am way behind on this.

virgiltracey · 01/09/2011 22:46

I don't have a full zombie plan but I do have a 3 month zombie food stockpile (which is equally useful for situations where we are snowed in or if like today one of us is given notice of redundancy Sad!

In another recent zombie read, animals over a certain weight could re-animate.

"If you serious planners have pets have you listed them in your plan in anyway i.e save, cook them, use them as bate?"

Assuming the zombies are the non thinking types, then it all depends whether they will shuffle with their heads down and arms swinging by their sides and a glazed look, or whether they will walk in a stiff legged, straight backed fashion, arms straight in front of them.
If the former then the chances are high that they will spot the cat. If so, she shall be used as bait and will lure them to a spot where I can drop the rock - o 'lastic (patent number 37549) onto them. The cat will then return, safe and sound to us.
If the latter then they will not see the cat, not looking down and in that case I can also avoid them by crawling on the ground when they are nearby.

babycham42 · 01/09/2011 22:48

Ermm. On second thoughts Beer, possibly not.
