Names like Gemma82 or yummymummy1.

There's so much choice. Obviously I'm a sucker for a bad pun. But I love the variety of names on here - great song lyrics, obscure references that I feel compelled to go off and google (and never google again in the case of dragon butter), bizarre word combinations and so on.

There are some notable exceptions but normally I make an assumption that if a poster can't think of an interesting name then they won't have anything interesting to say.

I've got a crap name but I needed advice and when it came to choosing a name I looked up for inspiration and saw the egg box! (yes, I was stood in the kitchen)

I want a new name now I've posted a few times but I'm waiting for something decent to come to mind!

I wanted FourFoxAche but apparently someone already has it. Sad

PeanutGallery · 31/08/2011 12:31

How about this one Mardy?

Better?

MardyCunt · 31/08/2011 12:34

Organic - your nn is good and descriptive. Although it makes me feel a little inferior for having taken my kids to McDonalds recently.

MardyCunt · 31/08/2011 12:34

PeanutGallery. Good name. What were you before? Wink

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 31/08/2011 12:36

The Renault Vaguna. The Ride of your Life....

MardyCunt · 31/08/2011 12:37

The Renault Vaguna. Come inside!

OrganicFreeRangeBoys · 31/08/2011 12:39

My boys have mcd's on occasion!

They prefer the breakfasts to happy meals though. All good since they apparently use free range eggs. Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 31/08/2011 12:39

Hows about mine, is it ok?

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 31/08/2011 12:41

The Renault Vaguna. You won't believe the space inside!

ScrambledSmegs · 31/08/2011 12:41

I don't think my name is hunnish, but no-one pays much attention to me anyway. So I must be dull as fuck.

MardyCunt · 31/08/2011 12:42

Tiredmumno1. Technically I guess I should say no, but I've moved on now.

MardyCunt · 31/08/2011 12:43

ScrambledSmegs. Love it. I just haven't seen you around.

bemybebe · 31/08/2011 12:43

YANBU to read only what catches your eye, but YABU judging the proverbial book by its cover.

People with boring names may have created theirs in a haste looking for support or guidance (child loss, DV, relationship breakdown etc). Does it really matter what they are called on the internet forum in a situation like that?

Also, what you think may be bland to you may carry a lot of meaning the person in question. On the other side, obscure and unusual names maybe fun to google but does digging deeper into it carry such a weight?? Really, googling "dragon butter" did not enrich my life, though it did make me chuckle.

I have had problems conceiving and lost children to mc before I leaned about my last pregnancy and joining mn for support. As it happens my baby girl died 2 months ago being born prematurely (I picked up strep infection and she had to be born; she was beautiful and healthy for her age, tragically just too early). I do not have any intention to change my name though it does not sound quirky.

MardyCunt · 31/08/2011 12:44

Tiredmum. You do rhyme though. Sort of.

Oakmaiden · 31/08/2011 12:44

Scrambled Smegs - me too.

porcamiseria · 31/08/2011 12:45

bemy

thats very sad, very. sorry for your loss

mardy, I preferred your old name !

LadyFlumpalot · 31/08/2011 12:47

Oakmaiden - I always notice your name because of the series of books by Robin Jarvis - technically childrens books, but they are seriously dark!

Tiredmumno1 · 31/08/2011 12:47

Well thats got to be a good thing then mardy Grin

I have been here for years though and never namechanged, i kinda thought i may as well stick with it, as not to confuse peoplebe a good thing then mardy Grin

MardyBra · 31/08/2011 12:48

bemybebe. So sorry for your loss. And thanks for your thoughtful post.

I'm sort of having a provocative morning because I'm a bit bored. Sorry if I've offended.

MardyBra · 31/08/2011 12:49

porca - changed back (just to please you???)

OP posts:
bemybebe · 31/08/2011 12:50

thanks porca, my girl died 23 days after the birth and "be-my-bebe" was the only think I could think of during these long weeks... Sad

Oakmaiden · 31/08/2011 12:50

oooh - they've written books about me, LadyFlumpalot?

Goes away to google....

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 31/08/2011 12:51

bemybebe that is so so sad. Really sorry for your loss.

ScrambledSmegs · 31/08/2011 12:52

Yay! My god, I feel validated!

I do love the namechangey vibe on MN. I got helped out on a thread by TheMagnificentBathykolpian (sp?) who was lovely and very funny. Only found out who she used to be a bit later, and was pathetically star-struck. Thank god I didn't know at the time.

How many child seats can you get in a Renault Vaguna?

bemybebe · 31/08/2011 12:52

not at offended mardy... just another angle to "boring name" posters.
