On BBC local news in NE tonight: sorry I'm too much of a luddite to link it.

Anyway, establishment is The Lakeside pub and restaurant in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. A woman was told to leave whilst having a meal with her family for breastfeeding her 6 week old baby. She obviously stated that this was illegal, but they humiliated her by insisting she left.

Thanks redhead what thread is it on btw, will try and find it when dd settles down to sleep

Maiavan · 30/08/2011 21:10

theinet then they should eat dinner at home where they can keep their sick minds to themselves and not inflict themselves on the normal people in society.

ThePosieParker · 30/08/2011 21:12

People do want to see 'tits' apparently Fabby hence Hooters and Playboy fucking restaurants and bars..... noone wants to see a perfectly natural thing like breastfeeding though....

cherrysodalover · 30/08/2011 21:14

Fabbychic- you don't want to see it because you have some sort of issue and I would say anyone who feels like that is in a similar boat- just look away for goodness sake if your sensibilities are so strange that you can't see a baby feeding naturally.

I love nothing more than getting the old breast out in front of people like you- bit of exposure therapy they call it in cbt.

Come on fabby- it's time you healed yourself, expose yourself to more breastfeeding mums I say.

ThePosieParker · 30/08/2011 21:14

Yes, don't feed your tiny baby at a table go to a shitty toiletShock.

Sun reading fucking bigots....let's look at this eighteen year old who thinks the riots are anything but a riot, in her tiny undies with her pert 'tits' but bf a baby in public, the shame the shame.

itsybitsy08 · 30/08/2011 21:14

Thisisnoton - I live in the north east and i saw it too! I will back you up! Was a 5 min slot on the local news. Woman was filmed feeding and talking about her experience. They did a 'street survey' and general concencuss was that the resturant was totally in the wrong. Apparently the lady was feeding discreetly and the waiter had to ask if she was breastfeeding. She replied yes, and was told she had to leave. The pub/resturant admitted asking her to leave but they did not ask her to leave the premisis, just the dining area.

ThePathanKhansWoman · 30/08/2011 21:15

theinet thats an awful thing to say. Are you being ironic?

pigletmania · 30/08/2011 21:16

theinet Shock right then you eat your food in the toilet, where people pee, poo and vomit then! Go on you might pick up a bug while you are at it. Since when do you see a bf woman with her tits out, I've never seen one. Yes a restaurant is the perfect place to bf, they are eating, mum is eating, would you say that to a ff mum. Surely when you are eating you are concentrating on your food, if not you will end up all messy.

cherrysodalover · 30/08/2011 21:17

That goes for you too theinet- your opinion belongs to a minority as this thread suggests.I'm so sorry you have this issue- did it get in the way for you when you breastfed? It is kind of sad but people have all sorts of issues that they need help with- we can't pussyfoot round every neurotic in the world when there are hungry babies to feed. You will have to deal with it or be constantly offended.

cherrysodalover · 30/08/2011 21:18

Let's not pick on them guys- they need help.Who knows how they have ended up this way.

itsybitsy08 · 30/08/2011 21:18

Shocking spelling sorry Blush

pigletmania · 30/08/2011 21:21

When I go to a restaurant i concentrate more on the food and getting down my throat quick fast than what others are doing.

tothemoonandback · 30/08/2011 21:24

Fabby, you've gone bloody mad.

thisisyesterday · 30/08/2011 21:28

"people eating their dinner out do not want to see a womans breast whilst they are eating"

then I would suggest that you people should stop staring at her tits and get on with their own meal.

magicmummy1 · 30/08/2011 21:29

Piglet, I am quite shy and thought I'd find it very difficult to feed in public, but when dd came along, I found I didn't give a damn! She was hungry, it was my job to feed her. :)

If anyone has a problem with seeing a baby feeding, then that is their problem and not the baby's.

hairfullofsnakes · 30/08/2011 21:29

fabby seeing as you know sweet FA about how bf works maybe you should stop spouting your rubbish...
Babies who are bf - especially newborns - take in a SMALL amount of breastmilk as their tummies are tiny. Unlike formula that unaturally expands the stomach as it teaches baby's tum to take a FULL bottle every few hours instead - this is the way that babies were designed to take their milk (this is not a slur on ff - just stating some facts for the likes of ignorant posters like fabby) so please be a love and at least try to know what you are on about before you spout. You are not standing up for anything love, you are just showing how extremely insecure you are about the wonders of breastfeeding. Maybe you should be honest with yourself asnd admit you have a problem.

thisisyesterday · 30/08/2011 21:30

"Shitting is a god given right but I wouldn't shit at the dinner table"

presumably you wouldn't suckle on your mums breast either? because YOU are an adult.

a baby is not. it can and will shit at a dinner table and no-one cares. and people shouldn't care if a baby is breastfed either.
just goes to show how far removed from "normal" breastfeeding seems to some people these days doesn't it?

magicmummy1 · 30/08/2011 21:31

I do wonder, though, if a baby really wants to see people eating their dinner when they're trying to drink their milk. Perhaps the other customers should be asked to leave...

thisisyesterday · 30/08/2011 21:32

and again fabby... you plan your life around your children?

yeah, partly I did.

my second son wanted feeding every 30-90 kminutes for the first 9 months of his life.

i guess i should have just stayed home for 9 months eh? tough luck that my older child needed to get to nursery and then school eh?

of course i could always have not fed him, i expect a screaming baby would be far more pleasant for those around us than me just feeding him. you can ignore a woman breastfeeding if you don't like it. it's pretty hard to ignore a screaming newborn

thisisyesterday · 30/08/2011 21:33

OP I know it's a real story. I didn't see it but a friend of mine is a BFC in Washington and was contacted about it so I know it's true and not made-up!

DuelingFanjo · 30/08/2011 21:36

fuck me, the world must be a scare place for Fabby! Grin

DuelingFanjo · 30/08/2011 21:36

scary

RedOnion · 30/08/2011 21:37

My god I see more "tit" in the pub on a Friday night than I would if a mother was feeding her child.

Oh how I will laugh (because otherwise I would be angry enough to headbutt my computer screen) you could sit in the very same establishment and read The Sun, with particular attention to page 3, and nobody would ask you to leave. Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous.

thisisyesterday · 30/08/2011 21:37
