To ask you all to boycott this establishment

On BBC local news in NE tonight: sorry I'm too much of a luddite to link it.

Anyway, establishment is The Lakeside pub and restaurant in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. A woman was told to leave whilst having a meal with her family for breastfeeding her 6 week old baby. She obviously stated that this was illegal, but they humiliated her by insisting she left.

secondly,it doesnt MATTER if they dont want to see it IT THE MOTHERS RIGHT TO FEED HER BABY,ITS THE LAW

and im sorry you felt you had to stay in with your babys a lot,because of other peoples preferences.that is a shame.

I have said that I agree people should be able to breastfeed anywhere discreetly.

But you have to consider other people.

Whatever happened to considering others? Or is it oh fuck it I breastfeed you can put up with it whether you like it or not.

It is about consideration for others, sparing a thought for how others will feel.

Shitting is a god given right but I wouldn't shit at the dinner table, breast feeding is a god given right but I'd not breastfeed in a restaurant in the evening.

I'll tell you what puts me off my dinner when I'm out:
Loud obnoxious people screaming and cackling obscenities
Smoking near the doors
Women wearing clothes that are too short and tight
Blokes with no tops on.

No objection at all to a woman feeding her baby.

Why does it have to be "discreet" (I presume you mean hidden or separate? It's not a "fuck you" thing ... I don't believe women breast feed to make some kind of point. It isn't something to be ashamed of.

Good point Gay! People who make noises when they chew, or are rude to waiters are offensive. A baby having it's feed is not.

Sorry mumbling. I would think she either wasn't bothered - and lots of people go topless on the beach, which whilst different form a town centre is not that different really (warmer maybe) or she was just knackered and had forgotten or couldn't be bothered to pop the other one back in.

I wouldn't be worried / offended though. I might worry it would be cold but thats about it really

Sorry, I think I just got wound up cos I can't find story other than on a Twitter feed. I name changed due to a thread in relationships that was personal.

I usually just lurk on here. Funnily enough, I read whilst bfing my 9 week old DD. Anyway, fair enough you can't just take my word for it. I hope you find the story and make up your own minds.

I swear this isn't to do with the fact the head was too large on my pint the last time I was in there... :)

I did think that she might have been too tired or something...with being so young too....you ccan get almost catatonic when babies are new.

I know, I think that there are better ones out there, but I am dreading feeding in public thats the only thing and in front of people so will invest in one nearest the time or try to make my own.
