Don't know whether this is an A&E or not, but a very unhelpful very busy Opticians that I rung earlier for advice has told me they can't help.

I have a contact lens wedged at the side of my eye, slightly behind if I'm honest and I can't for the life of me flush it out. It's very sore. Been there well over an hour now. It has happened before (been wearing them for years) but the usual tactic to pop them out isn't working. A piece has ripped off now so it's getting really sore.

Help!

Yes, go to A&E.

Itsjustafleshwound · 30/08/2011 13:24

GO !!

BarbaraWoodlouse · 30/08/2011 13:24

YANBU. Don't mess around with eyes. I would definitely go to A&E - with option for them to refer you to ophthalmology - rather than GP.

Boobicca · 30/08/2011 13:25

Definitely go!!

Rowena8482 · 30/08/2011 13:25

RUN!

PissesGlitter · 30/08/2011 13:25

i would go

triskaidekaphile · 30/08/2011 13:25

Poor you. Why don't you ring nhs direct or your GP for advice on where to go for help?

LuckiestMummy · 30/08/2011 13:25

Go, now, NEVER mess with eyes.
Good luck :)

freybean · 30/08/2011 13:25

yep go to a+e

slartybartfast · 30/08/2011 13:25

no, just go.

LargeGlassofRed · 30/08/2011 13:25

Ouch might be worth ringing a and e? Our local hospital's eye clinic has emergency appointments, a and e should no if they do.

Vicky2011 · 30/08/2011 13:26

A&E or at the least a minor injuries unit

Icelollycraving · 30/08/2011 13:26

Go!!

barleycorn · 30/08/2011 13:26

triskaidekaphile · 30/08/2011 13:27

I know nothing about eyes! So do what everyone else says. Good luck.

2rebecca · 30/08/2011 13:29

go to a&e other wise you could run the risk of damaging your eye

JodieHarsh · 30/08/2011 13:34

Ouchy, eye-stuff is the worst

Good luck and let us know how it goes...

blackeyedsusan · 30/08/2011 14:38

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 30/08/2011 14:39

Ouch. Hope they can extract it for you.

mollymole · 30/08/2011 15:02

go to A & E right away - i work in an opticians and this is what we would have told you - especially as you think the lens is broken - can't be too careful with eyes
