WIBU to call an ambulance?

JaneFonda · 28/08/2011 15:22

Am currently pg with twins, and have just had the familiar labour twinges (nothing too strong yet), and I'm starting to worry. Have called the hospital who said to wait until I'm established.

DP and DSes are currently in the lake district visiting GPs, so I'm staying with my friend for the weekend who lives in a lovely, but fairly isolated, converted farmhouse. She is at work at the moment, and I'm feeling nervous because she doesn't get back until about 10pm tonight. :(

WIBU to call an ambulance to get me to hospital if I need to go before my friend gets back?

Would anyone be able to just reassure me please? Am feeling really scared, my CS was scheduled for 3 and a half weeks time, this just feels too early and I am feeling very alone right now.

I'm not a troll, I just need some help :(

yes do so,i lived next door to our local hospital and when 28 weeks pg with my twins i got pains and called up for advice to be told the ward was shut!,dh has lost his job the week before and no money, was told to call worthing hospital and was told be them i could go in but if i was in labour i would have to make my own way to haywards heath as they had no room in scbu!and if i called an aumblance i could get out there and if nothing was wrong i would be stuck!
in the end dh uncle came over and took us turned out i had a bladder infection and spent 4 days in hospital 3 at worthing & 1 back in brighton.

i would def call an ambulance just in case you do go into labour at least they can help, not much a taxi driver could do xxxx

Hope you are ok, Jane.

Sewmuchtodo · 28/08/2011 16:46

Have the hospital rung you back yet? How many weeks are you?

Im in Devon and given that it is a bank holiday weekend, and the roads are crammed full of tourists please don't leave it too long! x

Bloodymary · 28/08/2011 16:47

Call an ambulance if you feel you need one!

Many years ago I felt I did not need one when I went into labour, (OH was working away), so I called a taxi. I will never forget his cheery words as I headed towards the hospital doors, 'Dont worry luv, you'll be OK as long as its not ginger twins' Confused

Luckily I had other things on my mind!!!

worraliberty · 28/08/2011 16:48

How close is the hospital you'd be getting the ambulance to?

schroeder · 28/08/2011 18:28

How are you feeling now Jane?

bananamam · 28/08/2011 19:09

Hoping OP is ok!

Carrotsandcelery · 28/08/2011 19:11

Presumably you are off to the hospital Jane - let us know when you are back online

MmeLindor. · 28/08/2011 20:39

Should we start knitting and baking? Hope you are ok, Jane and cuddling up to your babies soon.

Woodlands · 28/08/2011 20:41

Hope all's well! I am on holiday in Devon if I can help at all.

bubblesincoffee · 28/08/2011 20:45

I'd probably have called a taxi instead as soon as you started thinking about it.

But, if you need an ambulance, get one. At least they have gas and air! My ds was born in the back of an ambulance because it all happened so quicky, the paramedics loved it because it was uncomplictated and so quite a change for them.

Andrewofgg · 28/08/2011 20:47

I have an old friend, now retired as a London taxi driver, who delivered a baby in the back of his cab at 3 a.m. two minutes from the hospital.

And went to her wedding!

Mitmoo · 29/08/2011 05:33

Forget taxis - chances are they wont come if they know they could be helping with a birth and waters breaking etc in their cab. Call the ambulance if you feel you need it, dont think twice about it. I hope you're OK.

iscream · 29/08/2011 05:56

I agree, an ambulance seems best for premature twins. Hopefully this will not progress into full blown labor just yet. How long before your husband will arrive?

ditavonteesed · 29/08/2011 07:03

hope you are ok.

diddl · 29/08/2011 07:04

Hope everything´s OK OP.

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs · 29/08/2011 07:09

I wonder what she's called them? That is the only logical explaination for the OP not to come back.

MmeLindor. · 29/08/2011 07:45

I guess she headed off to the hospital. I hope everything went well, Jane.

ChocolateTeacup · 29/08/2011 07:57

Hope everything's ok x

AtYourCervix · 30/08/2011 09:54

CS for twins normally around 38 weeks. scheduled for 3.5 weeks time which would make OP around 35 weeks (so premature) with twins. and the hospital told her to wait for established labour Hmm

AtYourCervix · 30/08/2011 09:56

that was supposed to be a Shock not a Hmm Blush

hope you're ok OP.

mousymouse · 30/08/2011 10:00

mitmoo taxis are not allowed to refuse transport.
just don't tell them you are pregnant just that you need transport to the hospital.
OP, hope everything is OK!

FebreezeYourJeans · 30/08/2011 10:09

Hope the news is all good jane

Andrewofgg · 02/09/2011 19:57
