AIBU?

WIBU to call an ambulance?

Am currently pg with twins, and have just had the familiar labour twinges (nothing too strong yet), and I'm starting to worry. Have called the hospital who said to wait until I'm established.

DP and DSes are currently in the lake district visiting GPs, so I'm staying with my friend for the weekend who lives in a lovely, but fairly isolated, converted farmhouse. She is at work at the moment, and I'm feeling nervous because she doesn't get back until about 10pm tonight. :(

WIBU to call an ambulance to get me to hospital if I need to go before my friend gets back?

Would anyone be able to just reassure me please? Am feeling really scared, my CS was scheduled for 3 and a half weeks time, this just feels too early and I am feeling very alone right now.

I'm not a troll, I just need some help :(

Ring the hospital again. Ask their advice, give them the full details.

How far are you from hospital?

Call back and tell them more info. See what they say. They may want you to keep an eye then come in but if no one is there YWNBU to call an ambulance.

Call them back and tell them everything you've told us. Good luck!

And considering this is at least your third labour

UNLOCK the front door in case things happen quickly and paramedics need to get in!

Have just rung the maternity ward at my hospital I usually go to - unfortunately I'm nowhere near there at the moment. I've told them the hospital I'm nearest to; they are going to ring their maternity ward, inform them of my predicament, and then the close hospital will ring me to let me know what will happen.

My lovely midwife won't be there, which makes me feel anxious, but she is doing everything she can to sort me out.

Good luck Jane, hope you get help and company soon.

That is great, sounds like they are going to look after you.

Have you got your bag packed? Door unlocked just in case (as Sleepevader said)

Do you want to chat a bit? Do you know if you are having boys or girls?

We could help a bit with names, if you are unsure.

There are lots of lovely midwives Jane - you will be ok.

It sounds like everything is in motion to help you out now.

Well done and good luck.

Keep us posted Smile

Good luck.
If only I had a car.
Which hospital will you be going to?

Where are you, Jane? Maybe there is a MNetter nearby. General area if you don't want to put exact coordinates :)

As a male I'm even more useless than the other posters but very good luck to you and yours and if you feel you need an ambulance don't hesitate.

BTW I have called an ambulance three times in my life, once in UK, and twice in other countries, for a non life threatening injury which left me immobile. They couldn't have been nicer, and never once suggested that I had wasted their time. One time they did put me further down the queue, as there sicker people who needed their ambulance faster, but they phoned me and kept me informed and checked I was okay for pain relief etc. So do not hesitate to call them.

" I could get a taxi, but I would rather have medical people with me rather than a taxi driver."

I think that says it all-especially with twins!

How many weeks are you?

I am in Devon, but off to my parents.
Will check when I get there.
If you need someone and are close by I will try to arrange something =].

It might be a good idea to look out some taxi numbers, just in case you call an ambulance and they cant come to you (they wont always agree to transport people in labour, so a plan B might be agood idea).

As you have 3.5 weeks to your c section I am guessing you are less than 37 weeks and with twins- I think calling an ambulance would be perfectly reasonable
