Disabled parking badges are for the designated places NOT where the hell you like

Really need a vent! Am sick to death of seeing cars parked in the parent and baby/toddler spaces just because they have a blue badge, and not a child in sight Angry The other way around and you wouldn't hear the end of it about inconsiderate parents etc. I fully agree with the need for the disabled spaces etc, but I don't like having to choose between leaving my baby locked in the car to return the trolley (especially if out of sight) and him getting totally soaked etc if I take him with me.
Disclaimer This is made more annoying for the particular store I am referring to as there are only 2 parent spaces, and more than a dozen disabled badge holder ones. Yet because the parent ones are in between the two sets, they use those and leave all the other badge spaces empty.

Well that or Cirque du Soleil could start to hold their recruitment drives in supermarket carparks.

VeronicaCake · 28/08/2011 13:40

Sorry Pagwatch. I deleted the phrase 'cunty cunty cunty cunty twat-wizardry' from my post in case it caused offence.

Kladdkaka · 28/08/2011 13:41

At my local supermarket the 2 spots either side of the entrance are for pregnant women. Hmm

Honeydragon · 28/08/2011 13:41

Spero · 28/08/2011 13:42

Empusa, thank you for your love. I hope you will still feel it when it is my Ferrari diagonally parked across that sweet little p and c space you had your eye on.

LetThereBeRock, I have just laughed out loud and startled my cat. I hope you're happy.

I find it very hard to believe someone is actually complaining about a disabled driver parking in a p&c space!
They've parked in the space they deem easiest for them.
So op YAB unbelievably U!

ProfessionallyOffendedGoblin · 28/08/2011 13:45

I used to look in envy at those parents with PFB clinging to their legs, weeping at the thought of losing mummikins.
Well, only when I wasn't with DS, who would take off like a greyhound and head for the nearest hazard. Some of those beggars with a disability can move like lightning. I often considered a bolas when he outgrew reins.

Pagwatch · 28/08/2011 13:45

I forgive you veronica cake. Mostly because you said 'hardly any of them are water soluble' which is always worth pointing out.

scuzy · 28/08/2011 13:46

in my opinion its easier to park further away with a baby because you put them from car seat to trolley/buggy. you just need side space to open doors wide enough. with more than one walking toddler am sure its more difficult would be safer to be nearer the door but not a necessity.

however those with a disability trump any kind of parking issues. for god sake so they get to park nearer the door... so what. would rather WALK a few mins to the door with my kids than be eternally bound to a disability parking spot.

Pagwatch · 28/08/2011 13:47

Sgm...

So perhaps it is less the posting has declined and more that the speed of the fingers hovering over the report and delete buttons....

LetThereBeRock · 28/08/2011 13:47

Please pass my sincerest apologies on to your cat.Grin

andthisisme · 28/08/2011 13:50

Grin Pagwatch I just snorted coffee at your post.

OP I have never joined one of these threads before but I'd just like to suggest a couple of things.

  1. Carry your baby to/from the trolley park. Or park next to one.
  2. Babies rarely melt in the rain. Many posters have already pointed this out but I feel it's important you get the message. If you're that worried perhaps a coat with a hood?

I too must be very special as I manage to shop with a baby AND a toddler and have yet to feel my needs wants should have priority over a person with a disability. If there is a P&C space free, I use it. If not I park somewhere else.

Oh and YABU.

Empusa · 28/08/2011 13:51

Pag I held back (just) had a few posts deleted recently, and got fed of of people missing my foul mouthed pieces of wisdom Grin

Morloth · 28/08/2011 13:54

I tried pagwatch but not a single person told me to get off my high horse.

Clearly I am gifted.

Empusa · 28/08/2011 13:58

Morloth Get off your high horse, horses really aren't allowed in P&C spaces! Grin

Pagwatch · 28/08/2011 13:59

It's true empusa.
I wrote a fabulous post once, filled with wisdom and insight. Then finished it off with a completely unnecessary
'you utter twat'
And poof - gone.

It was the cultural equivalent of losing Oliver Cunting Twist.

We need to show restraint or the world is the poorer for it.

Glitterknickaz · 28/08/2011 14:21

Ok, so if the situation is as it is every single time I go to my local ASDA, that every single blue badge bay is full, I should go home without using the store, yes?

Can't have a PFB suffering from me using a P&T now can we.

fedupofnamechanging · 28/08/2011 14:28

No one said anyone should go home if all the blue badge bays are full. the OP only said that if there is a choice of both, then why couldn't the disabled person use the disabled bay and leave the other one free. Given that they were in pretty much the same place, distance wise, this seems reasonable to me.
