Disabled parking badges are for the designated places NOT where the hell you like

Really need a vent! Am sick to death of seeing cars parked in the parent and baby/toddler spaces just because they have a blue badge, and not a child in sight Angry The other way around and you wouldn't hear the end of it about inconsiderate parents etc. I fully agree with the need for the disabled spaces etc, but I don't like having to choose between leaving my baby locked in the car to return the trolley (especially if out of sight) and him getting totally soaked etc if I take him with me.
Disclaimer This is made more annoying for the particular store I am referring to as there are only 2 parent spaces, and more than a dozen disabled badge holder ones. Yet because the parent ones are in between the two sets, they use those and leave all the other badge spaces empty.

perhaps the person with the badge sprinted to get away from the person with a cat's bum face.

Megatron · 28/08/2011 13:21

These threads always astound me. P & C spaces are ridiculous and unnecessary in my opinion anyway and I would never begrudge a blue badge holder a parking space that made their trip a bit easier. Who would? Ah yes, the kind of person who is interested only in themselves and their own needs.

So someone with a blue badge parked in a space that the OP wanted and it inconvenienced her for 30 seconds or something. That it was a P & C space is irrelevant. It was needed by someone with a genuine need to be nearer the store.

DuelingFanjo · 28/08/2011 13:21

I agree that when people with a blue badge use C&P parking instead of an available blue badge space - it is really rude and inconsiderate. I think C&P parking should be further away from the shop doors to make this a less attractive possibility.

My main annoyance about anyone using C&P parking when they aren't supposed to or more to the point, don't need to, is that it's impossible to get a baby carseat out of the car if you are forced to park in a 'normal' space.

Spero

UABU - Your leg is shower proof and can stay out in the rain. A PFB would dissolve in a matter of seconds.

I'm still waiting for a comment about someone with a blue badge in a car that looks very expensive and sporty. They always seem to crop up aswell!

Spero · 28/08/2011 13:24

I am waiting for my magic powers to kick in.

I wonder if op is also sort of person who will object to disabled swimmers at her local pool because they upset her baby? This child is going to grow up with a very weird sense of the world.

Oh yes we haven't had that yet.

Have we had 'Well I know someone who has a blue badge, and they don't need it' yet? Or 'Well mothers with prams are also disabled'?

Honey dragon. I stand admonished. I am ashamed at my utter thoughtlessness. I completely forgot op was cursed with the heart wrenching disability of being made of paper.

Makes my jibe about swimming pools even more sickening. Am off to flagellate, as sadly can't afford to buy a nice sporty car to piss op off even more.

LetThereBeRock we had a 'well I know someone with a blue badge who is more able than I am'. Does that count?

LetThereBeRock · 28/08/2011 13:28

That'll do nicely thankyou.

VeronicaCake · 28/08/2011 13:29

Dueling Fanjo why do you need to take the carseat out? Surely you just lift the baby out and put it in your baby transportation method of choice? I've never had any problems getting DD out of the back of a car minus her carseat.

I appreciate that it is possible the PFB might wake up or get wet. But most of them are capable of falling asleep again and hardly any of them are water soluble.

Spero · 28/08/2011 13:30

For first two years of my daughters life I had a three door polo. That baby seat wasn't going anywhere, big parking space or no. I have obviously blacked out the full horror of it all but we clearly survived and I did manage a bit of shopping, in between training with Jessica Ennis.

I wonder if you know my friend op, who told me I 'had' to get a four by four when I had a baby, what with babies being so bloody massive and all. I think you'd like her.

Megatron · 28/08/2011 13:30

I never used p & c spaces and was able to get my baby seat out of the car. if not, take the baby out of the seat. people managed it for years.

muminthemiddle · 28/08/2011 13:30

I just hate inconsiderate drivers. No problem where a blue badge holder parks-except if it is across my drive then God bloody help you.

LetThereBeRock · 28/08/2011 13:30

I'm wondering why the army don't use 'Getting a toddler out of a car in a non P&C space' as a training method. It seems that it's more challenging than any obstacle course they could come up with.

muminthemiddle · 28/08/2011 13:31

Btw no one with a blue badge ever has parked across my drive just inconsiderate able bodied drivers.

Empusa · 28/08/2011 13:32

I don't think the supermarkets help by not making it clear that disabled people can park in the p and toddler spaces or where they bloody well like if they're not casing an obstruction.

Spero · 28/08/2011 13:34

Or even better, letthereberock, compulsory draft for all the sprinting disabled people, given that there are so many of them. Thats the only language they will understand.

Pagwatch · 28/08/2011 13:35

I am an old gimmer but I am shocked by how lacklustre the p&c vs disabled parking debates are on here now.

These threads used to shine like beacons of selfishness, entitlement and indignation - filled with foul mouthed exchanges

Now it's just some snarky pfb stuff and 'shop on-line you twat'.

I miss the old days
