To think it's Not On to go about singing loudly at work when you are new/a temp?

I mean, it's Not On as a general rule, but at least if you've worked somewhere for eleventy years you can get away with eccentric or annoying habits. But if you are a temp and only been somewhere a few days, wouldn't you keep your loud show offy singing under check for a bit? I admit I have high standards of behaviour for my colleagues, I have previously debated the smelly fish lunch lady and the stewing lamb in a slow cooker lady (regarding neither was I BU by the way) but this is ridonkulous. I keep hearing bursts of pop songs at full volume coming from the admin room. The other admin workers must be fit to kill by now.

I have been known to cartwheel my way to the printer and do the odd handstand or two...hell, it makes the day go so much quicker and the office dog seems to find it amusing :)

Hahahaha I walk around barefoot! There you go, I suppose standards vary. But I would never go barefoot if I had smelly feet, only in flipflops so you don't see more foot than you would if I was wearing shoes.

We had that at work. Girl fancied herself as a popstar, the work lark was just a stop over till she realised her true calling & became famous....she went on ex factor & made it to the second round.

In my previous career I once shared an office with someone who talked non-stop. Literally. Now that was annoying.

But at least I was only in the office for part of the day.

Gah, our (then new) grad started like that. Was a trained classical singer and clearly wanted the whole office to know. It took less than 24 hours to put her back in her box but dear god was it cringey.
We're in a really relaxed office but you've got to respect other people's boundaries, i.e. wear some fucking shoes, don't sing, don't microwave eel curry (this happened at my last job) and if you crave attention in general, don't work in an office.

Not any old eel curry, oh no. Eel curry left over from the night BEFORE the night before. Kitchen in basement, people heaving as far up as the 4th floor, I kid you not.
Someone took the fuse out of the microwave after that, it was a sad day for all (especially me with my economy box of Oatso Simple)

No, I'd think it was bizarre from anyone new to an office actually. The temp aspect just illustrates that she hasn't been here for years or even months and got comfortable.

I won't tell her because I don't want her to feel uncomfortable. It is a bit irritating but I'm more boggled about why she would go about singing in an office full of people she doesn't know!

YABU, unless you are the boss and singing prevents the person from working... Presumably they are happy, and happiness often = productivity, so let them be!

If you're so miserable at work after eleventy years in the same place as to resent someone else's happiness, perhaps you should be looking for a new job...

It's not terribly productive if it's pissing everyone else off!!
