..to not go back to our local Tesco until DS is older?

This is really more of a grumpy rant than anything.

I hold my hands up...I allowed DS2 to go in one of the trolleys with the cosy coupe attached a few months ago. He loved it!

So, now he always wants to go in a "car-trolley" when we go to that Tesco. They used to have about 5 so we'd always get on, but now they only have 1 and we rarely get it. He's nearly 2.5 BTW.

My DS is a full on tantrum style toddlers - throwing himself on floor etc etc.

I've had one too many visits where we don't get one and he moans and cries the whole way round, often re-ignited by seeing the sodding trolley in the shop, despite me trying not let him see it.

So, we're not going to go until he's old enough to understand.

It's a massive new store. Why can't they have more of these trolleys or why can't they keep them in the store and ask for a deposit? This would stop the local kids destroying them.

We shall go to Sainbury's instead and Tesco can stick their incentives!

I'd like to say just say no, but I avoided the big Tescos with those trolleys when mine were small too.

YANBU, I still avoid Tesco with my two as they are the worst supermarket for having several bloody rides positioned so that you've no chance of avoiding the DC seeing them.

In your situation I would probably change supermarkets or invest in a blindfold and tell your wee man that shopping time is now the biggest game of pin the tail on the donkey ever...

I would go to Sainsburys, and email Tesco to tell them why. They need more of those trolleys, or none! One cosy coupé trolley?! I'm surprised there aren't 10 toddlers having tantrums in there all day, every day.

Ours had about 10 which got nicked. Left one and I just said no if it wasn't there and did a bribe with a magazine.

YANBU re the trolley, daft to just have the one!

For others who mention the rides though, that's easy... Mine are allowed to sit on one of those at the end, if they've been good! They now regard this as a treat and are totally not fussed that no money goes in and the thing doesn't move

Here's my reply to my email to customer services.

Not quite sure what they mean about smaller trolleys. They are massive!

Perhaps I'll get a Cosy Couple Trolley for my own personal use!

Firstly, I?d like to apologise for the delay in getting back to you. Please let me assure you that we always try to respond to our customers' queries in a timely manner and I?m sorry that due to high volumes of contact, this has not happened on this occasion.

I'm very sorry that you couldn't find a suitable trolley when you visited our Store recently. As this has, unfortunately, happened to me in the past, I can understand how annoying this must have been for you and I would like to offer my most sincere apologies for this.

We always try to make sure that we have a certain number of said trolleys per Store so that we can do our best to cater for the customer demand. So, I'm disappointed that you experienced a problem like this.

As the Store is an Extra Store and therefore, was designed for our customers to purchase larger quantities of shopping, the majority of the trolleys are larger in size, however, your comments have been passed to both our Store Manager and our Support Team so as to investigate your complaint and to follow this matter up with the staff to make sure that it doesn't happen again and, if necessary, order more smaller trolleys to be delivered to the Store.

Thank you for taking the time to email me. After all, without your feedback we wouldn't know where are going wrong or how we can put things right.

Stoned What do you mean? That he should already understand? He's very much an "in the moment" boy. Another few months and I'm confident he'll understand better, but he's not there yet.

worra I do online shopping most of the time, but there's often something I've forgotten or need to get later on in the week, probably because I end up doing the online shop at 11pm the night before delivery!

Shopping under best of circumstances is a nightmare even with older children, only advise is keep it short, and not too often, at two and half is understandably too young, but if you promise him something in return for being really good for mummy, and make it happen, swings, park, something he really likes doing, you will turn corner with him.
I hate food shopping so I don't blame him for getting agitated, what a tedious chore, and imagine how boring trough eyes of a child.

I have aa strop at customer services every time there are not enough double trolleys. dd is just about big enough now to walk though sometimes she is in pain and it hurts to walk and she goes in the trolley with ds who would otherwise run off and wreck the store. haave a strop at asda about other stuff too. going to a supermarket with ds somehow puts me in that mood...

shopping on line is more expensive. I rely on picking up the offers. I have no option but to take ds. some people do not have child care on tap every week.

I would avoid tesco full stop for ever!!

There prices are hideous and the quality has plummeted.

No they all do! Which is why I avoid them all! Tesco is definately the worst though. It's not just farmers they bully either, by buying up land in every town they end up bullying the town councils too and descimating town centres.

True enough. But my local Tesco, I have to say, offers a better experience for the main shop than any alternative being near, well-stocked, and parkable if there is such a word, and there is now. I find the quality adequate except for some vegetable items which I buy elsewhere.

Whilst I do sympathise I think your DS is old enough to understand and IMO by doing this you're just avoiding dealing with it.
