Ive always wondered if anyone bitch of a SIL has ever replied to a thread about themselves???

I know it happened on a different mums forum i use.

Has anyone witnessed it on here??

OP posts:

I outed myself to my cousin. She posted an AIBU with details that were uncannily like her situation (location in the world, number of children, school starting dates), so I asked if she was my cousin, i.e. did she have plans to be back in the UK on x date, and she admitted it was her. But it was a harmless outing, and as the only relative I bitch about is my mother, and I suspect my entire family agrees with me, there's no harm, no foul.

AnyFuleKno · 19/08/2011 08:46

Can I have a PM too please? I am clueless

I think it's brilliant that (in some cases) those slagged off actually see what's been written about them by a family member or so called friend.

People are lulled into a false sense of security on here and should be aware that they could be identified.

kittensliveupstairs · 19/08/2011 08:51

Me too (PM please).
I don't think anybody knows who I am, despite DD shouting out in her school playground 'My mum is kreecherlivesupstairs'.

ShoppingForCarbsWithClaire · 19/08/2011 08:53

Did anyone see the thread the other week where the OP was outed by someone from her college course?

OP started a thread complaining that someone had snitched on her to the benefits people because her 'live-out' boyfriend (who she was pregnant by) had been staying over at her flat.

She gave away loads of details like the ages of her kids, the dog she had, the area she lived in and the college course she was doing.

The other girl came on and was arguinbg with her and then outed her with her real name. Thread went pouf about 5 minutes later :O

AnyFuleKno · 19/08/2011 08:55

That was a troll I think shopping

sausagesandmarmelade · 19/08/2011 08:57

Uh ohhhhhh...................

Lesson learned for her....oops!

Happens with facebook too, I understand.

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 19/08/2011 09:26

Can I have a PM too?!??!?!? Pleeeeeaaaaase?

baskingsharkwontbite · 19/08/2011 09:52

If there's a PM about Xenia's ID can I have it too please? Grin

Catslikehats · 19/08/2011 10:06

ooh could I have a PM too?

I always kind of hoped xenia was justine having a laugh Grin

The political love triangle was bizarre!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 19/08/2011 10:15

I know some other MNers in RL, so I don't really worry about being 'outed'. I don't really use MN to bitch about anyone though, so I'm probably safe.

NoMoreWasabi · 19/08/2011 10:16

On another forum I used to use I found a friend of mine posted an email I'd sent her, word for word. Using a user name that made it very easy to identify her. I didn't much fancy getting into a public debate so I emailed her to say I wasn't very happy about it. I think she was really shocked I'd seen it as I think she had, somewhat naively in my view, assumed that writing on an open access heavily used forum was pretty much the same as discussing it with a few friends down the pub.

On the same forum a few years later another posted was having problems with some nasty troll contacting her IRL and making trouble. I had to point out that I'd worked out who she was IRL as she'd put a lot of identifying info out on a regular basis and if from a very passing acquaintance of many years ago I'd recognised her, other people would too.

ledkr · 19/08/2011 10:19

I often have fantasies about my mil realisisng who i am and reading my posts about her vile behaviours-it would save me having to murder her one day when she pushes me too far Grin

TheMonster · 19/08/2011 10:21

Hey Pm me too please Smile

I might out myself just for fun, but I suspect it would be pretty boring.

AlpinePony · 19/08/2011 10:24

If "Xenia" is real - it's in very poor taste to treat her "outing" as amusement. :(

youarekidding · 19/08/2011 10:30

ledkr Grin

Glitterknickaz · 19/08/2011 11:12

Mega curious, if someone would PM me would be most grateful....

Zanywany · 19/08/2011 11:17

I stupidly naivly mentioned my user name to my now XP and he went through all my postings, mae me feel absolutly awful. I think he still does it as he mentions things to me via text that he could only know about on here Angry.

Smellslikecatpee · 19/08/2011 11:17

Hang on Hang on Hang on

Xenia is REAL!!!!

No I dont believe it...........

Nah

really???

JemimaMuddledUp · 19/08/2011 11:21

I've always wondered who Xenia was too... I keep hearing that she deliberately outs herself but I seem to miss those threads! Then others say it is easy to work out, but I am obviously just too thick Grin So if someone would be so kind as to PM me...

SnapesMistress · 19/08/2011 11:22

I got found out once and the person told me via facebook not on mn, quite glad she did as I then knew to namechange and get the thread delelted.

LoopyLoopsTootyFroots · 19/08/2011 11:26

Oooh, hate to be an outing vulture, but could someone PM me too please?

I've worked out a couple of people I know, and if anyone saw my posts they'd be able to work it out straight away. Quite worrying really...

So Xenia isn't famous? I assumed from all the hype she must be. In that case there isn't much point in PMing me as I will be none the wiser anyway.
