AIBU new born baby has own FB

This is now the second friend who has set up a facebook account for their new born baby..

"Of course I had to alter the date of birth, but it's a great way of the people keeping in touch and being updated and they'll have all these great memories when they grow up"

So AIBU to think this is odd..

I think it's lovely, just a modern version of the baby book.

Who wants to be facebook friends with a "newborn baby" aka an obsessive mother boasting about her offspring all day?

It all depends, if they are using it as a memory storage facility and restricting access to just close friends and family then I don't really see the problem. It's what happens when the child wishes to use it themselves but that isn't really going to be an issue for a couple of years.

YANBU - friend has done this and I find it bizarre to say the least! All she does is post about her lo anyway so just another way to bombard me with their child so didn't accept 'friend' request!

Nice record I guess but why not just have some nice photo albums and stuff at home? Weird!

It's nothing like a modern version of a baby book.

A baby book was a boring waste of time that mothers with fuck all in their lives made and then embarrassed their offspring with year later.

They had the cardinal virtue of being mostly invisible.

This is like writing postcards to your mates a few times a day about your baby's latest shite.

Appalling.

Shecut A baby book is lovely, their first hair, first nails, weights at birth, first milestones, nothing to do with having fuck all in their lives I did my son's when I returned to work, it's memories, lovely memories. If people want to use a FB account so share with their family and friends the milestones in their children's lives, then let them.

Far better than not giving a shet.

If you have a friend with one, then don't read it.

YANBU sherbet, tis not so much odd as unecessary. What's wrong with posting baby pics under your own profile if you really need to do it.

The same kind of people have FB pages for their pets.

unessacery (sp?) imo. Why not just post pics on her own facebook page? I wouldn't friend this page if a request was sent because i don't agree with it.

i know people who have set up accounts for their babies but they only have a few people on it, where as they have 800+ "friends" on their facebook, might just be so they can keep pics of their lo to proper friends

aurra I'd always accept a FB request for a baby from a friend, if people really so anti FB for babies then they can show they're are heartless bitches by not accepting.

Not sure I'd want someone like that as a friend to be honest.

What is the minimum age required to sign up for Facebook?
In order to be eligible to sign up for Facebook, people must be thirteen (13) years of age or older.

so she is breaking FB rules really isn't she?
It really is 'no big deal' I guess but the 'school marm' in me it tutting loudly

baby you may well want to restrict people who can see your baby pics only to family and friends but your own account could be open to hundreds of people.

She cutofftheirtails - I have proper baby books for both my LOs and I love them! And how the kids are a bit older they love getting them out to look at and read! Much better and more worthwhile than some bizarre FB page Confused
