This is now the second friend who has set up a facebook account for their new born baby..

"Of course I had to alter the date of birth, but it's a great way of the people keeping in touch and being updated and they'll have all these great memories when they grow up"

So AIBU to think this is odd..

Ive got sons first hair cuttings, first nail, the belly button snap from the hospital, his name band. Who does it hurt? It's in a book in the cupboard and has gathered dust for 14 years.

"i know people who have set up accounts for their babies but they only have a few people on it, where as they have 800+ "friends" on their facebook, might just be so they can keep pics of their lo to proper friends"

why don't they just use the very simple to work privacy settings?

yanbu op

which mother with a new born has the time to do something so stupid! OP YANBU even worse than that and even pets pages is the foetus page! "oooh today i was really naughty and kicked mummy in her bladder and she nearly wet herself in tesco." the imagined musings of an unborn child. i would rather put pins in my eyes.

Its not as annoying as parents tagging THEMSELVES in pics of their kids

It annoys me no end

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 15/08/2011 21:18

Oh dear, maighdlin I couldn't agree more. In fact the whole thing of mothers posting in the voice of their baby is just creepy and I really do feel for that poor child when they grow up and this stuff is splashed across the internet for eternity.

Moanna · 15/08/2011 21:19

I'm just itching to make a FB page for my dog now....

KAZAMM · 15/08/2011 21:20

I don't think you'd be heartless for not accepting a baby request. It doesn't mean I wouldn't be interested in friends baby in other ways such as visiting them. It's just personal feeling.

I put pics of my children on facebook (as part of general pics of friends/family/holidays). I assume that people who don't want to look at them don't bother. No problems there (although I sort of hope that proper friends and family are interested, just as I am in the pics o what they've been up to). I have to admit that I did captions in one album in the voice of my then 8 month old ds. But it was really funny I promise, mainly taking the piss out of myself, and lots of my friends messages me to say they had enjoyed it. (cringe)

OMG - lightbulb moment

I just thought people were tagging bits of themselves that were unrecognisable. There's a pic of DD tagged with my name (by someone else) and I thought it was because she was sitting on my knee.

But you're right, people are tagging themselves in photos of their kids.

The knobbers.

SheCutOffTheirTails · 15/08/2011 21:47

"Who does it hurt?"

HIM!

Nobody wants to see bits of their dead umbilical cord when they grow up.

washngo · 15/08/2011 21:52

Yes I have to say it annoys me when people tag me in pics of my children. But I know why they do it, it is because if you are tagged in a photo you get a fb notification, thus alerting you to the photo's existence. Essentially they are showing you the photo, assuming you would like to see it. Which you usually are if your child is in it.

Kayano · 15/08/2011 22:05

I have like 40 pics of SIL that she isn't even in! I friggin hate it, and SiL for that matter - she has since been blocked for being a filthy slag lol. I do not want to see her name on pics of BIL and his kids when she isn't there... And is in fact rarely there
