Yeah but she doesn't hellospoon therefore I haven't.

LauraIngallsWilder · 08/08/2011 23:13

Keep a light on downstairs so your house looks occupied. Shut and lock all windows and doors.
Stay in and be safe

Much love to you TLE

CubiksRube · 08/08/2011 23:15

TLE, are you in Peckham?

Us too, and know exactly how you feel. The store on our street (that I go to every day) has been looted and riot vans keep going backwards and forwards.

As others have said, lock the doors, draw the curtains and distract yourself. It will be ok, residential houses aren't the targets.

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/08/2011 23:16

DS2 is scared because there were gangs all round our estate, we took the puppy to the park early and had to leave because of trouble starting 2 minutes away as in on the OKR.

He asked what the police were there for as there were at that point 7 police vans in my road i just said there were some bad boys being naughty. when he finally settled with the sirens, smashing bottles etc he asked me to shut thw windows.

DS1 is 13 and DS2 is 3

how aer you doing tle?

are the dc's sleeping through?

Birdsgottafly · 08/08/2011 23:18

OP try to see the police sirens as a positive thing, they will be totally containing any trouble.

Does your DM also live close, can you not go to hers tomorrow, if things are still bad?

If the DC's wake up put a cartoon or film on and try to just get into it.

hellospoon · 08/08/2011 23:19

Ooo a puppy!! What breed tle?

How are you keeping the boys occupied in the holidays?

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/08/2011 23:20

Sounds horrible, really feel for you near it. Am in country, and feel lucky- despite usual moaning about no shops//facilities Smile Be brave

CupcakesandTwunting · 08/08/2011 23:25

Sit tight sweetheart. It will all be over soon, I am sure of it. This can't go on much longer. Fucking idiots need to be rounded up and shipped off to break rocks in the sun. The devil makes work for idle hands.

LauraIngallsWilder · 08/08/2011 23:27

A big cuddly blanket to hide under is my suggestion on a night like this - mine always makes me feel better when Im sad or scared

Get them watching a favourite dvd in the morning and try to keep them from hearing or seeing the news footage

Try to get some sleep

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/08/2011 23:27

I know I am not in the thick of it but I am close enough to hear everything. I could see the flames, every time a siren goes past it is petrifying.

My mums road is closed off as well

My sister has had looters running past her home with arms full of stuff my nephews were petrified.

GypsyMoth · 08/08/2011 23:28

hey,TLE....dont worry about the pub!!Grin will be up and running again soon, bet we see some of that blitz spirit after all this! communities will recover

meanwhile,we need to bring back national service i think! or something for these losers!

janelikesjam · 08/08/2011 23:34

You are unlikely to be hurt, but its upsetting all the same Evenstar so I understand. I am drinking like a fish, I can hear the sirens all the time. I told a couple of friends on the phone and they laughed it off earlier, but I know there is something seriously bad going on, and there will be serious repercussions. I hope I am wrong but my instinct is that this will be a political nightmare.

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/08/2011 23:40

Ilt, I bet we do as well. I am not worried about the pub itself but my friends who drink in there, live above it.

Its sad really.

National service would be good I reckon.

JLJ, Thats it its upsetting. I think it has died down round here - but you can't tell. Haven't heard any sirens for about 6 minutes.

TLE- Lock doors and windows. Keep a light or two on. Close curtains.
Keep phone/mobile and door keys near you.

You will be ok

Shall we start a game to distract you?
Something silly like "What would be your sleb' name if....?"

thisisyesterday · 08/08/2011 23:43

just heard it's all going on on the old kent road right now...

hope you're ok TLE

CupcakesandTwunting · 08/08/2011 23:44
