... for some people to accuse others of 'bullying' or 'attacking' when they have their views disagreed with?

I've noticed a few threads on here in the last couple of days where anyone putting across a contrary view to the OP gets accused of being mean/bullying/personally attacking. I don't like it. Aren't people allowed to disagree anymore?

More to the point, I've noticed that some of the people complaining about 'bullies' are ganging up with each other to 'tell someone off' which comes across as a bit... well... bullying.

BTW Fook off and your all a bunch of twats Grin including me!!!

bananasplitz · 05/08/2011 09:44

for some people to accuse others of 'bullying' or 'attacking' when they have their views disagreed with?

because thats what happens on forums the world over when one group cant deal with others having differing opinions

MissPenteuth · 05/08/2011 09:50

I think sometimes it's more to do with how people disagree. In AIBU the gloves come off and people are just as likely to respond with 'FFS, you're an idiot' as they are with 'I disagree, for x, y and z reasons'. While there are some people who obviously believe that They Are Right and anyone who feels differently is Wrong, but on some occasions posters can get justifiably upset by replies that veer into personal insult territory.

ProfessionallyOffendedGoblin · 05/08/2011 09:52

Well, with reference to the 'SN Mafia' 'SN Twunty Brigade' 'Professionally Offended PC types' it really isn't meant to be bullying or ganging up.
It's more the fact that we have various children with additional needs that we love and care for and parent. And we face unacceptable attitudes regularly IRL.
So when you get an abusive or unintentionally dim poster, writing from a DM POV, it tends to attract our attention. Then we point out why we think the poster is in error.
Because we tend to all be posting from roughly the same stance, it can look like ganging up but it isn't. As individuals, we all feel that some of the attitudes to SN on MN should be challenged.
Feel free to oppose, complain or report any posts you find unacceptable.
That's what we're doing. Smile

Feenie · 05/08/2011 09:54

Thanks for the clarification, babyheave - whereas I will happily accept that the exact wording was not, in fact, 'twunty brigade', the premise remains the same. On that thread, before it was pulled, there were howls of 'Why can we never discuss anything related to this topic without the same (insert name of your choice here) jumping up and down, getting their knickers in a twist and getting the thread pulled?' Relates to the OP very strongly, which was clearly Jonnyfan's point here.

TrillianAstra · 05/08/2011 10:05

YABU to think it's sudden or new for people to try to accuse others of bullying when they disagree.

Mitmoo · 05/08/2011 10:10

There are some very very bjtchy posters on her who should liar, bullshit radar, and some of them hunt in packs, based on nothing whatsover, rather than feel bullied I prefer to think of them as just rather stupid people.

I'd rather them thinking they were very very clever people and be a minor annoyance rather than be out there in the real world causing a nuisance of themselves.

CupcakesandTwunting · 05/08/2011 10:19

I think that some silly people can't handle being told they definitely are being unreasonable by more than one person. Then maybe two people out of a hundred agree with the OP, call everyone else bullies, then the unreasonable OP feels buoyed by the tiny bit of support and feels vindicated in her OP and vindicated a bit more because she is a victim of bullying, rather than victim of no-one telling her what she wants to hear.

I would suggest that if you want a rant, post in Chat and make it clear you're not asking for your situation to be judged. You just want to get stuff off your chest. It will probably work out better that if you're the kind of person who chucks a benny when they are told they are being unreasonable.

Mitmoo · 05/08/2011 10:23

*Cupcakes" talk of the devil............. Grin

CupcakesandTwunting · 05/08/2011 10:25
Wink

Seriously though, that's some good advice I've given you there. Away from the gladiatorial arena of your other thread, I feel I can tell you that.

p.s I don't hunt in packs. I'm a renegade, me.

SuePurblybilt · 05/08/2011 10:26

A Maverick. A Lone Wolf.

Do you, by any chance, have a Harley and a leather waistcoat, Buppy?

glitterkitten · 05/08/2011 10:26

I agree cupcakes

CupcakesandTwunting · 05/08/2011 10:29

Funny Sue, cos that's exactly how I was envisaging myself when I wrote that. is my theme tune.

SarahStratton · 05/08/2011 10:29

Oh it's years since I heard 'chucks a benny'. Grin

AIBU is brutal. If you don't want to hear others opinions best to stick to Chat or Netmums.

woollyideas · 05/08/2011 10:30

Yes, I find it interesting too, cupcakes, the way the 'two out of a hundred' form a kind of mutual fan club replying to each other over and over again, consolidating each others' opinion that they are being victimised and making it impossible for anyone else to get a word in edgeways and call them morons

OP posts:
SarahStratton · 05/08/2011 10:30

Lone Wolef, surely Sue? Hmm

SuePurblybilt · 05/08/2011 10:31

YY, I am all about the stonewash and the skanky hair. You should so become a proper Maverick. You could be a bounty hunter

KurriKurri · 05/08/2011 10:31

But it goes on and on because people won't let things lie.

Thread gets heated, people disagree, accusations of bullying abound, people shout twat and fuck.

person called twat starts thread saying people are bullying her, previous people who disagreed join thread and shout twat and fuck a bit more. Person accused of twattishness flounces.

New thread started saying why are people accusing others of bullying, aren't we allowed to disagree? general consensus is that those making accusations of bullying are twats and should fuck off.

Can you see where I'm going with this?- its bloody Groundhog Day.

As my old chemistry teacher used to say 'will the back row please just grow oop'

Mitmoo · 05/08/2011 10:32

Glitter hello again. The pack gathers.

Honestly I am fairly new here but internet boards are always the same, the pack hunters, the bjtches, the bullies who think they're clever but are really very shallow nasty people.

Every psychologists dream. Still at least I've now got names to some of the game players. Most psychologists dream! Grin

CupcakesandTwunting · 05/08/2011 10:33

What I often do at this point, woolly, is bow out. You can't win or even have a rational debate with people like that. Let them have the last word and reclaim your sanity. It really is for the best, I find. I'm sure then they go "HA! Typical BULLY! Stand up to one and off they run!" Nah love, it's just because arguing with you is like sticking matchsticks into a dogturd: pointless and not fun.

Kurri - there's no need to bully me just because I started a thread that might have been done before. I mean, how am I meant to know? I'm fairly new around here. I didn't come on here to be insulted.

Flounce.

OP posts:
CupcakesandTwunting · 05/08/2011 10:36

"Lone Wolef" Grin

The pack? What pack am I in? Who is in my pack? I want to know so I can design us some natty jackets like the T-Birds in Grease. The Lone Wolefs. Should we have denim or leather? Shall I try and paint Lone Wolefs on the back in Tipp-Ex or glitterpens?

Mitmoo · 05/08/2011 10:37

Just write bjtchfest on them, that will be fine.

CupcakesandTwunting · 05/08/2011 10:37

Stewie, what is this Twunty Brigade? Can you explain in terms that even a divvy like me would understand? I've seen TB used but no idea what it means and I am a nosey fucker.
