I've just been threatened

I've had the garden turned into a camp site and three children sleeping in tents aged 14. They were fast asleep by midnight. I've just had an elderly neighbour knock the door, I've left the outside security light on so they have light, it is mainly on my back garden but lights up around a little bit not
much. The children felt safer

He has told me to turn off the security light as it is keeping him up. I said don't be ridiculous it is 1 o clock in the morning and close your curtains.

He says it is a hot night and he shouldn't have to close his windows. I say leave your windows open use your curtains to block the light.

He says, if you don't turn off the lights I'll be back at 3 am and you wont like what I'll do, there are consequences and you wont like them"

I feel like that is a threat, one of the children heard it and was scared, I've woken all three children, got them inside and left the light on.

AIBU for thinking this w shouldn't be allowed to make veiled threats, scare one child and force me to get the other two in from their sleeps in the garden just to make sure this tosspot doesn't follow through with his threats which he says will happen at 3 am?

The kids and me were asleep, it was just the security light, it's not like they were causing any trouble.

What do you think? Excuse typos sleepy typing.

Mitmoo · 08/08/2011 17:16

Pops back in and whispers:

All has been very quiet since. No more problems. Typing with fingers crossed and muttering "I hope I haven't spoken too soon. One lad for a sleepover tonight. I think I'll forget about the tents. Grin

How the fuck is this thread still up when it was started by a well known troll?

CryptoFascist · 15/08/2017 09:35

Mittmoo ?

PandorasXbox · 15/08/2017 09:36

Because someone has either NC or just joined calling themselves Mittmoo. There's another thread been bumped out there too.

Mollyboom · 15/08/2017 09:40

I would say that 14 year olds in a garden do not need a light. just turn it off. They are teenage boys not 8. With school camping trips at that age they most definitely do not have security lights.

biscuitmillionaire · 15/08/2017 09:53

Why is that automatic zombie thread alert thingy in red writing not working anymore?

Olympiathequeen · 15/08/2017 09:55

Both unreasonable tbh.

We have a bright street light outside and blackout curtains are the only option, but they make the bedroom stifling on a hot night.

You could have turned off the light ince the kids were asleep and given them a small night light in each tent

Neighbour was a total arse though and I would speak to the police.

And the old guy is probably dead.

Happy days

CountessOfStrathearn · 15/08/2017 09:56

molly, chances are the light is off now, partly because it is morning but mainly because this happened 6 years ago.

Liiinoo · 15/08/2017 09:57

You were both unreasonable, him for kicking up a stink and you for leaving the light on after bringing the kids in.

Lights can be very intrusive. We live on a hill so our neighbours security light is about 20 feet below my bedroom window and about 30 feet away and obviously points to ground level not up to my window. It isn't too bad in the summer as a tree screens it but in the winter when the tree is bare it wakes me up when it comes on at night. It annoys me but it is all part of living in a town and having neighbours.

Why don't MNHQ just delete the thread?

ZOMBIE

PandorasXbox · 15/08/2017 09:59

I'm surprised any if Mitmoo's posts are still if I'm honest. For some reason I thought they would have been zapped.

Hygge · 15/08/2017 10:02

I remember this thread from the first time around. Six years ago. If the light is still on that's one hell of a commitment to annoying the neighbours Grin

This thread was 3 months before I joined. I still don't know what the Mitmoo fuss was all about. Sounds riveting.
