To be really irritated that nobody seems to use their indicators anymore

I've just driven home from work, during my entire journey I only saw one person use their indicators? Why don't people indicate? It really bugs me!

YANBU. I hate this - not only is it dangerous but it also slows everything down at roundabouts as no one is quite sure what everyone else is doing.

It's hard on pedestrians too-we do need to know if you are turnng into the road we are about to cross, and no, it isn't always obvious until too late that that is where you are going. I really really hate this.

I see a lot of use of indicators but, when it comes to turning right at roundabouts, it all tends to fall apart. Lights randomly blinking all over the place.

Cogito, that's the one that bugs me the most- so many people neglect to indicate that they are leaving the roundabout. When they are making a right turn, this means that they are doing the opposite of what they are indicating.

There are a couple of roundabouts near me where people indicate left but don't leave at the next exit. I've very nearly had cars into the side of me more than once at the same roundabout.

Don't even get me started on people who crawl right up your arse in a car park so if you find a space there's no room to reverse in to it. It's safer to reverse in than out.

this sends me postal. Only yesterday a nobber swerved into the side road I had just started to cross without indicating and BEEPED AT ME.

Luckily he was in a white car and when 2yo DS says "white car" it comes out as "wanker" and it was the first time I wasn't mortally embarrassed that he'd said it.

It's discourteous as well because it suggests the driver doesn't care about anyone else who would benefit from the signals.

Not indicating makes other drivers have to guess and that, when repeated several times a day is extremely irritating and often dangerous. Everyone should be clear about other drivers' intentions, when there is doubt then there is increased scope for errors and collisions.

It also "indicates" that those drivers who regularly fail to use their indicators are lazy and incompetent.

I live in the country and forget there may be cars actually driving behind me . No pedestrians around - only sheep. I'll try to indicate for the cyclists.

Really annoys me! I also find it annoying when people manouvre and then indicate i.e. slow to a stop for no reason, start turning the corner, THEN indicate. Useless bumfaces.

Someone the other day behind me didn't indicate going round a corner, so when I went around a corner further on and they were following me (I checked there was no one else it would affect ie pedestrians etc) I didn't indicate, and guess what? THEY abused me (fingers, yelling)! Haha eejits.

I find the sheep don't indicate either. Stupid beasts.

YANBU in the slightest. I indicate even if there is no traffic or pedestrians about. I caught myself doing this along our road yesterday and wondered why. But it is automatic that when I make any manouvre (or however you spell it) I also indicate. Is it really that hard to do??

Ooo the motorists who don't indicate for pedestrians on the basis that it's a well known fact all pedestrians are psychic - that sends me into a ball of spitting rage. I shout at them now. I have no shame.

YANBU, of course. Particularly hate (as a pedestrian) people not indicating when turning into the road I am about to cross with my small child, and (as a driver) people who change lanes on the motorway and indicate as they are 3/4 of the way into your lane, if at all.

However, we're not all like this - I am scrupulous about indicating, because otherwise how am I to maintain the moral high ground?

My DP is terrible for indicating late/not indicating at all and it drives me INSANE

He just doesn't seem to get the mirror-signal-manoevre thing. If he's moving over to the right, ready to make a right turn, he indicates AFTER or WHILE he's moving over. No matter how many times I splutter patiently explain that indicating is meant to tell other drivers what you INTEND to do, rather than WHAT YOU'RE DOING, it just doesn't seem to sink in.

Ditto if he's trying to change lane - he'll slow right down to try to find a gap and I sit there going "If you indicated, people would know what you were hoping to do and. They. Might. Let. You. IN!!!" through gritted teeth.

Men hate asking for directions so they probably don't much like giving them out either!

Pendeen - yes - all men are crap at indicating and are agressive and all women have no spatial awareness

In London all drivers are bastards and all cyclists are maniacs. And I walk and am perfect.

It is annoying when people don't think they need to indicate because there isn't any other motor traffic around, as though cyclists and pedestrians don't count. Maybe they just haven't noticed, but why would you not just indicate anyway, in case there's someone around you haven't noticed? It's not as though it takes a huge amount of effort!

I've never understood this. Surely indicating is such an in-built thing to do that to not indicate you would have to make a conscious decision not to do so?

I am a learner so having to tread the fine line between being too reckless or too hesitant when entering roundabouts.

It would be sooooo mush easier if people indicated when coming off. I know I should know this by their road position as well but these things do come with experience I'd have thought. And you always get some idiot with a right signal on who ends up cutting across and going straight on.

My Dad is 71 and kindly drove me to pick DS up from his new infant school ten miles away the other day. Huge roundabouts, an arterial road, lane changes, all sorts and he only bothered to use the indicators once during the entire drive

How do people get by with this though? surely they must be constantly close to crashing.
The amount of twats who don't indicate and don't know how to deal with a simple roundabout (indicating and which lane) is unbelievable

I have come to the conclusion that when the locals here pass their driving test, they are told that indicators are no longer necessary and the white line in the middle of the road is there so they can see how well they can straddle it.

They are so mean and selfish. It's only flicking a switch, it doesn't cost them anything and it isn't even physically hard work, but will they signal?. Not on your nelly!
It's mean, selfish and downright dangerous.
Some of the drivers I've seen lately - you wonder whether they ever passed the test and if so how?
One chap last week (with wife in passenger seat) went around a very busy death-trap roundabout THE WRONG WAY. Everything stopped for him while he pottered off. God knows how they weren't both killed. It put me off driving for days.

These people never crash. But they'd see a lot of carnage in their rear-view mirrors if they ever bothered to look... which they probably don't.
