I was just reading a post and it reminded me of when i was first on mumsnet and made a few blunders, the first posting in AIBU when i was a newbee Shock

Although i never admitted it to any one then my next blunder in my confusion of many acronyms one was thinking that TIA was actually someone signing their post with their name any who for any newbees out there who are in their first days of mumsnet this thread will make you see you are not alone, and also some what cleverer then cookielove Grin

Come wise mumnetters share your blunders, your blushes and your mis understandings here Smile

amazing how can it be a spoiler if the book was out years ago? Agree some pele must be dense

alowVera · 22/07/2011 20:07

InfestationofLannisters · 22/07/2011 20:09

ABF that thread was fine, can't believe it was deleted! Children's story has ending where good triumphs over evil shocker Shock

If Harry, Ron and Hermione had all been boiled in oil (not that I have thought about this much you understand) then you may have been a bit U to mention it but given that the last book has been out for years and this is Mumsnet, not Netmums, I thought that was rather unfair and heavy-handed.

Most MNers could plough through HP 7 in about half an hour and those who couldn't be arsed would bloody well be able to predict what what happen.

Continuum · 22/07/2011 20:23

Would have been much more shocking if he hadn't died I agree!!

But then I don't get the film hype, the book, BOOK, has been out for years! That was the exciting one to look forward to! But then I wonder if I've come over all mumsnet-y and snooty about movies as a lesser being than the written art!

Witchofthenorth · 22/07/2011 20:24

I popped my mumsnet cherry in the AIBU thread, replying to someone who was talking about star signs and stuff, thread evoved into quite an interesting conversation about other related woo stuff........I think it goes without saying that I needed therapy after that episode Shock

Witchofthenorth · 22/07/2011 20:25

Oops I meant the AIBU board, because there is one long AIBU thread.......duh!

cookielove · 22/07/2011 21:40

cookie that because it comes up the most under last 15 minutes, easy mistake to make. Blush

Angel786 · 22/07/2011 21:59

I'm a newbie still (I think?!) and on different threads kept writing [embarrassed] and couldn't work out why Blush wasn't appearing. Doh!

cookielove · 22/07/2011 22:00

I think unless you have run the gauntlet of AIBU, your not a "real" mumsnetter Grin

Said something harsh about our canine chums on a thread being watched by DogsBestFriend.

I come out of plaster next week and I am assured that some of the scars will fade eventually :o

cookielove · 27/07/2011 19:43

CupcakesandTwunting · 27/07/2011 20:13

My first and worst blunder was starting an AIBU as my first thread (after lurking for all of one week) moaning that I wanted, ahem, unsavoury people banned from my local park, lest they infect my wunderkind with their rough.

I got brought down to earth with a veritable bump, I don't mind telling you.

NotQuiteSoDesperate · 27/07/2011 20:39

When I had just joined, I must have gone totally mad because I started a thread in AIBU about Mners telling women to leave their husbands. It was so sanctimonious of me and I cringe when I think about it. I had to stop reading the thread as it went on and on.

Then I started to read the Relationships section and had my eyes opened. I have learned so much from MN and am a changed person these days.

LetThereBeRock · 27/07/2011 20:43

Sharing an embarrassing and very long winded story. The results of doing so were far more humiliating than the story itself, and three namechanges later still haunt me.Grin

LetThereBeRock · 27/07/2011 20:51

And my anti-woo thread didn't go down very well with some.

LeoTheLateBloomer · 27/07/2011 20:58

I too caused chaos as a newbee in AIBU talking about my neighbours being benefits cheats Blush Oh the shame! If only I had lurked for a while, but no, I've got a big bloody gob and had to wade in before understanding The Rules Blush

So glad others have namechanged through shame as well. I'm on about my 20th name now. All because I keep cocking up Grin

Mare11bp · 27/07/2011 21:01

I am not a newbie but more a lurker.....

What does RL and Tia mean please?

LeoTheLateBloomer · 27/07/2011 21:09

RL = real life (what's that? Hmm)
TIA = thanks in advance

LeoTheLateBloomer · 27/07/2011 21:09

P.S. HTH btw Grin

Sassybeast · 27/07/2011 21:34

OMG - Voldermort DIES?????????????????????????????????? Sad

TarquinGyrfalcon · 27/07/2011 21:48

There was a thread inviting people to play isketch - I had never played before but it seemed like a good way to pass some time.
I ended up in playing with a group of people who obviously knew each other well and one other player - one of them accused me and the other player of cheating, saying we must be MSNing each other the answers cos we were both winning.
She then wouldn't believe that I was a member of Mumsnet and accused me of gatecrashing the game
At the time I was mortified, now I'd just smile and think that I was the better player.

PortBlacksandIsleOfDogs · 27/07/2011 22:13

Aww i loved playing isketch - does mn not do that any more?
