The walking further with children comments never make sense to me. Parents without cars manage to walk everywhere - including across roads and car parks with there children still getting through in one piece!

Tortington · 21/07/2011 16:35

i can feel the next mumsnet campaign coming on - mevermind this running for malaria bollocks

Did StrandedBear mean to put her post on the Misandry Man thread?

Tortington · 21/07/2011 16:37

high five sirzy damned straight, in my day back in th'olden days, before the invention of barcodes and self scanning checkouts (shit you not) i used to walk to supermarket with three children.

i must admit though, it would have been an easier gettaway when they stole things if i had had a car

Also, some people get so p'ed off about p+c spaces being used by others because the stupidly massive cars some people have when they reproduce don't fit into normal bays....pffft.

emmanumber3 · 21/07/2011 16:39

What supermarkets need is mum-to-be or pregnant-hippo-like-women spaces near to the doors. I'm getting fed up of the moves I have to do to get back into my car when someone has had the cheek to park next to me! Obviously they must be near the door so as to be comfortably within waddling distance Grin.

Mum2Luke · 21/07/2011 16:39

I would just like the spaces to be a bit wider when I do go shopping, I've got a Ford Galaxy which, being a 7 seater is slightly wider than your average standard saloon and is a bit of a squeeze when people don't park very well between spaces.

I am a childminder and I don't tend to take the older ones shopping as it costs double but I take the baby and even though he is African I still get people asking if he's mine!

I would like ALL supermarkets to have trollies with brakes on though, nearly had an incident when I was unpacking and the trolley rolled away when I turned my back (as the Asda car park is on a slight hill) cue great embarrasment!

Earwiggy · 21/07/2011 16:40

Is this the right thread to moan about all the school age kids hopping out of cars parked in the p+t bays this week while I struggled to get my 2yo into his car seat in a normal space. Grrrrrrr

Maybe I should start my own thread.

Tiredmumno1 · 21/07/2011 16:41

Well said sirzy Grin

Dont forget the ones who say 'but i'll get wet', thats what brollies/coats and raincovers were invented for

ThumbsNoseAtSnapewitch · 21/07/2011 16:41

Custy, that depends on whether or not it was pre-child restraint laws. Obviously if it was in the time of "chuck em all in the door and let em fight it out" then yes; but if you'd had to strap each one into their little seat, I fear the fuzz might have caught you before you'd started the engine.

DontCallMePeanut · 21/07/2011 16:42

About to shock you, OP, but I take DS shopping with me. Morrisons = just round the corner. Don't offer home delivery. Not a fan of Tesco. Ocado don't deliver here. Or maybe I should just leave DS home alone, so other shoppers aren't tormented by the sight of a slightly excitable 3 yo, who's getting in their way as he picks up the wrong milk for mummy...

Thank fuck, I thought you were!

joric · 21/07/2011 16:44

And I want an extra wide space because I don't like being wedged in beteen my car and another... Infact, I may just start a campaign for 'chubby' spaces.

I've got a 2 door car, so has long doors, I'd like widen spaces so I don't struggles to get out the car, and so people do t bash it when they open their cars.

Kladdkaka · 21/07/2011 16:45

Why is it that Tescos have started putting mother'n'child parking spaces closer the entrance than the disabled ones? At the new one near my mums, they have designated disabled bays but they are no closer to the entrance than anywhere else in the car pack, but all the spaces within shouting distance of the door are mother'n'child. Confused

See I can't understand why people feel the need to hoik the whole baby car seat about with them. Why not lift said baby out of the seat and carry half the weight? Isn't that what those baby trolleys are for? I'm sure that's what I used to do, but parent and child spaces weren't invented 15 years ago.

FreudianSlipper · 21/07/2011 16:47

ds loves food shopping if i have gone without him he asks me to take him to the big red and blue shop

i could not give a toss if they got rid of the p&c parking spaces i am quite capable of parking in a normal size car parking space and getting the shopping and ds in the car, but then again i am fantastic, this is just one of my skills

Tiredmumno1 · 21/07/2011 16:48

Although i did question one couple who had no kids and had parked in the p and c nearest to the door, if they knew it was a p and c space, the response was the kids are in the shop, i saw the same couple wandering about in there and i couldnt resist saying i think you lost your kids again (jokingly) she just shot back with well they are at home so we can park there as we have kids. Well i dont think i have laughed so much ever Grin

Columbia999 · 21/07/2011 16:52

Just to add another element: I hate it when the P&C spaces are nearer to the doors than the disabled ones! Also, those monster truck type cars should be made to park at the furthest end of the car park, they take up the space of about four cars! Angry

tethersend · 21/07/2011 16:56

If only there were some way of say, choosing all your items on a supermarket website, and then someone puts them in a van and delivers them to your door....

WAIT A MINUTE!

Riveninside · 21/07/2011 16:58

'For the cheap arse planet killing empire enabling chav'

that'll be me then Grin. I keep meaning to go to the little chi chi gourmet market for my sun dried but get sucked into chav town. Where I park my monster wheelchair van in P&C cos its closer. So ner Wink
