to get mad at people using parent and child parking without a child?

There I was sitting in Tesco's carpark waiting for my little girl to wake up so I could shop and I must have watched 3 or 4 cars in the space of 10 mins use the spaces for parent and child even though they had none! One woman had two dogs but I suspect that that doesn't count! When I went in the store I told the lady on customer services but she didn't seem very interested and just said she'd tell " one of the lads to have a look". I was so mad! Actually the worst one was a guy who had 2 child seats in the car and no kids! Should know better! Ok , rant over!

Other drivers not being considerate is a pain, be that parking in a P&C space with no child or just being a crappy driver

The point of P&C parking is not just the distance from the door, and it boils my piss a bit that people are assuming that.

The point of the wider spaces is because it is a MASSIVE hassle getting a carseat/wriggly toddler out of and strapped into a car if you can barely open the door. We often have to park in normal spaces because it's a busy supermarket and more often than not I end up climbing in the other side to strap my son in, or having to pull out and strap him in

Disabled spaces are of course a priority, and it's silly to suggest that a parent's need is as great as a disabled persons, so if I had my way they'd just make all the spaces extra wide, or at least move them to the opposite end of the carpark and provide safe walkways so that there'd be no incentive for arseholes in big/flash cars less considerate drivers to use them

I feel the need to point out in reference to an earlier post that of course children do not 'melt' in the rain.

They dissolve.

Did none of you folks do science at school? Tut.

Thanks for all the feed back guys, good and bad! You know I'm new to mumsnet and some people have been very sweet and funny, other have just been plain offensive which is a bit of a shame. Hoped the site in general would be friendly and supportive, not sure what to make of it yet though.

Mumsnet is great Maamaa - it's just that the particular subject you wrote about has been debated and debated until the cows come home, but you weren't to know that.

Smile Welcome!

We are friendly and supportive, this is AIBU, you asked if you were being unreasonable, most people thought you were.

It's really not the end of the world. If you'd rather avoid confrontation then maybe stick to other topics?

Welcome to mumsnet though :)

But for goodness sake, once you have parked up in the P&C spaces and gone into the supermarket, do not let your child eat any grapes whilst you do your shopping, and if you, do not post on here about it.

carparks are dangerous for kids until they grow above bonnet-height and gain a sense of responsibility.

just fact.

P&T spaces very handy therefore. not a necessity. not a priviledge. but very useful nonetheless.

heavily pregnant women need to open their doors wide. hence sympahty to usage. also, old people who use the 'fling door wide and rotate' method of getting in and out of their car gain my sympathy on P&t space usage. except all the time it is just a single male with no problem at all who 'just wants to b next to the shop' and therefore = lazy twat with no consideration for others.

Surely you could have waited in a normal space then when she wakes up move to another spot and get pushchair up orrr don't go shopping at nap time!

life is less stressful and safer when i use a C&P space. also means my toddler doesn't bash the other car while opening the door! i also used to use a C&P space while pregnant and fit to burst as walking was a nightmare
