to get mad at people using parent and child parking without a child?

There I was sitting in Tesco's carpark waiting for my little girl to wake up so I could shop and I must have watched 3 or 4 cars in the space of 10 mins use the spaces for parent and child even though they had none! One woman had two dogs but I suspect that that doesn't count! When I went in the store I told the lady on customer services but she didn't seem very interested and just said she'd tell " one of the lads to have a look". I was so mad! Actually the worst one was a guy who had 2 child seats in the car and no kids! Should know better! Ok , rant over!

Can we please not turn this into a disabled v P&T thread.

Looks like I was right about an inflated sense of entitlement...

ShirleyKnot · 21/07/2011 15:47

oh noes kungfu - what am I doing on a chuffing parking spaces thread?

Talk me down baby.

ReindeerBollocks · 21/07/2011 15:48

God I love you Shirley, you said what I wanted to, in a more direct manner

:)

lady007pink · 21/07/2011 15:48

It annoys me too! Even though my children are older therefore I don't need them.

WTH is your problem, NarkyPuffin???? All OP meant was that the staff would have acted they been disabled spaces and rightly so - why use words like Fuckwit?

usualsuspect · 21/07/2011 15:49

please don't say 'sense of entitlement' again .ReindeerBollocks Grin

YANBU. It made me very cross when DDs were very little.

I actually don't use the P&C spaces much now the girls are 6 & 2, as I manage to go on my own or just take one of them, or if both of them are there they are ok if we're just getting a few items. But I don't think people without children should park in them.

Some people locally seem to think they are Pensioner with Car spaces, though I've never done anything about them parking there other than dole out a Hard Stare. :) Let their consciences sort them out. Or karma...

There was a sports car with no badge in a blue badge space earlier today, wasn't like there were no other regular spaces nearby as well, I parked opposite in a regular parking bay. Hmph.

YABU

Provision of parking spaces for the disabled is a legal requirement'

Provision of parking spaces for parents and children is a marketing tactic.

Enforcement or use of either on private land is down to the landowner,'s discretion (and not the customer).

TandB · 21/07/2011 15:53

Right, Shirley, Put that reindeer down and start backing away from the thread veeeeery slowly.

I will cover your retreat.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 21/07/2011 15:54

Because it's a good word. And to compare spaces set aside as a marketing gimick to those set aside by legal requirement to enable people to access a shop/business is foolish.

ReindeerBollocks · 21/07/2011 15:55

Oi usual. What are the other buzzwords? Just let me know and I'll be all over this thread, like shaving foam and a Murdoch...

fuckmepinkandcallmerosie · 21/07/2011 15:56

Anyone want share of my popcorn?

And I have fruitshoots?

TandB · 21/07/2011 15:57

I don't really get why people are unable to cope without them.

I have only once in 2 years had a problem with not being able to get DS into the car and that was when I had the misfortune to finish up between two extreme examples of incompetent parking. Sometimes it is a bit of a squeeze but do-able.

I do, however, tend to park further away where the carpark is quieter, or next to a pillar so no-one can get too close to at least one side of the car.

I also have the basic ability to park in the middle of the space which helps. Many seem to lack this.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 21/07/2011 15:57

Retract fuckit.

Muppet.

TandB · 21/07/2011 15:57

Fooffy · 21/07/2011 15:59

It doesn't matter how you feed your child as long as they are healthy and happy.

EnSuiteShed · 21/07/2011 15:59

MaaMaa are you new on here by any chance?

ShirleyKnot · 21/07/2011 16:00

A HA HA HA!

Yes Bitter - how d'YOU like THEM apples? Grin

Meh kungfu, it's either this or work...

Insomnia11 · 21/07/2011 16:00

It may be a marketing tactic rather than enforceable by law, and no, I don't equate P&C spaces with blue badge spaces, but just because something isn't illegal, it doesn't mean it is moral.
