To turn down an invitation to a birthday party on saturday with some lame excuse, because she doesn't fancy it. And then invite another girl in the class to her house for a sleepover the same night.

She thinks we are being utterly unreasonable. I think she is being rude and a bit unkind. In fact I am a bit disappointed in her.

I wouldn't let her do this

she goes to the party, or she stays quietly at home with her family

hosting an alternative social occasion just seems needlessly hurtful to the party girl

THanks everyone. It is funny how different we all are. I just have a feeling that you always have to take friends feelings into account. Even if it's a bit inconvenient. DD and I had a long talk when we were walking the dogs - she sees my POV - she always did - but apparently girl wanted on sleepover is going to be 'really busy' over the hols and she didn't think she could make it any other time . I told her this was total rubbish and that out of 6 weeks I was sure they could arrange another time.

Is the girl wanted on the sleepover feeling peeved at not being invited to the party so trying to wreck it?
