He is just so wrong for the part. What were those casting people thinking?

His head is the wrong shape

his hair is wrong

he can't act

most glaringly wrong is his blue eyes.

HARRY POTTER HAS GREEN EYES FFS!

Was that when he had the wand sticking out of his ear hole as well? :)

Can't remember! I do remember really tittering in the cinema though.

When I first read book 1 aged 12 I genuinely had Maggie Smith in my head as McGonagall from the very first moment. She is so completely perfect for that role. Apart from that I've never really been satisfied with the casting of the films. Mikey from my family fitted so exactly into the image I had of HP that I've never been able to accept Daniel Radcliffe. Emma Watson is too good looking to be Hermione and Ginny isn't good looking enough (WTF is that about) and the boy that plays Ron isnt tall and gangly like Ron should be, sirius wasnt sexy enough (JKR herself said he should be sexy in a haunted, tortured way and when watching lord of the rings I was stunned to see my exact image of Sirius playing Aragorn), Snape wasn't young enough, malfoy wasn't pointy-faced enough, the first dumbledore was far too old (dumbledore is old but with great energy). The list goes on.

My point being that everybody has an individual imagination and JKR left lots of her descriptions of people just vague enough to allow her readers to almost create the characters themselves (unlike Tolkien for instance whose exacting descriptions left nothing for readers to use their imagination on). So since we're all so different no one is going to agree what a character should look like and the casting people did their best I'm sure..

Does any body else keep getting choked up at the end of the later films? Ie number 5 onwards

I was horribly disappointed by the twins, not just their looks but those boys acting abilities and the way they are hardly in the films at all. While I accept it's probably difficult to find a set of good-looking Ginger twins with good comic timing I at least thought the makers would be true to their role in the books. Being such a huge part of the comic relief, I expected to see more of them and for then to be funnier.

TBh - if the special effects can come up with dragons and terrifying giants they could probably replicate one ginger dude into twins.....

None of them are physically like the book versions, but then they were cast when they were 10 so you've got to allow a bit of leeway.

Acting wise it's a bit mixed throughout the series from all of them.
