to wonder why dishwasher tabs are so farking expensive?!

£13 for Finish nasa designed space tabs (or whatever they are called) is outrageous!

I buy the £3 from Aldi ones, and tbh I cant tell the difference between those and the uber expensive ones I made the mistake of buying once, exept perhaps as slightly shinier finish on the long wash which I only use once or twice a month at most. Surely there cant be £10 worth of difference in them? They both wash pots ffs!

So enlighten me, why are they so damned expensive and if you buy them, WHY?!

I have no idea either! Also, Finish tablets sometimes make a cup of tea taste a bit 'curryish' in my experience. MIL has also noticed!

Dishwasher power is where it is at. Is much cheapness and works a full treat. I will never go back to my tab loving dayss

I know someone who was in the dishwasher tab business. There is no difference between the Aldi ones and the expensive ones.

The only difference is in the profits.

I was going to suggest that you get yerself down to Lidl!

Their tablets are 1.78 for 30 and are the dog's nadgers. Not much difference between them and Finish, apart from the fact that you don't have to sell a kidney to afford Lidl's tablets.

Tesco value at £1.80ish for 30 work just fine for me. Sometimes use powder/rinse aid/salt as well. I nearly had a coronary when I saw how expensive those finish sachet things were. For that money I'd want them to load and unload the dishwasher for me. Utter waste of money.

I've been buying finish ball ones from B&M Bargains or Home Bargains (don't know which is which) and they're loads cheaper than tesco.

I buy about three months worth when they are on offer. I think Co-Op were the last ones I bought £2.49 for 28 (I think) I used to use own brand powder but my dispenser is broke and I always forget if I have to go back after machine has started to put powder in when its needed

I use Lidl's or Aldi's and break them in half when I'm not doing a full load or the stuff isn't very dirty. Cheapskate moi!

The guy who came out to fix our dishwasher told us that we shouldn't use the expensive ones as they damage them in soft water areas. He told us we should go for the cheapy ones. We always go for the supermarket own brands.

Being told to wash up myself took about 15 posts longer than I expected :o

And whilst I totally agree with you, if I told you what i have to do on a daily basis you wouldnt begrudge me my dishwasher, I promise you. But i am "incognito" with this username so i cant as I would out myself so you will have to take my word for it!

Enjoy being in the first flush of love with it Apocalypse!

It starts with you and OH fighting to load it, unload it, check out all the programs etc. It ends with you and your OH having the same argument you used to have about who's turn it is to wash up, but about who's turn it is to load and unload!

The novelty of a dishwasher soon wears off, because no matter how expensive your tabs are, no matter how carefully you load the thing, and no matter how much you rinse the things before you put them in (which is completely defeating the entire object of having the contraption in the first place), your pots and pans will still come out needing a proper hand job!

It's the dishwasher that does all the work. You don't need to buy expensive dishwasher tablets. Sainsbury Basics or Tesco Value (all around £1.70 for 30 tablets) are just fine. You will, though, need to buy dishwasher salt and rinse aid.

so, why do those all in one tablets, never do the "all in one" job they profess to do... because I still put salt in the bugger... just in case.

I probably have high cholesterol simply due to my frigging dishwasher.,,,,

You don't need them! Just buy the cheapy ones. I've been using them for over a year now, and they are totally fine.

I have actually found manually doing it, with a bit of fairy liquid is the best job... Grin but I cant think of anything that would fill the vacant space in the kitchen!!!
