To keep telling DH that his friend is only a baby?

A while ago DH accussed me of fancying his 23 year old mate. i replied "don't be daft, he's only a baby!" and this annoyed him even further and he said it was a ridiculous thing to say about a 6ft 2in heavily tattooed rugby player bloke. I thought it was hilarious so everytime he mentions him I say things like "awww bless, he's so cute" etc and if DH complains I maintain that the bloke is only a baby cos I'm a funny bastard.

AIBU?

It all sounds a bit immature TBH. Haven't you both got better things to do?

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 14/07/2011 14:56
Hmm
M0naLisa · 14/07/2011 14:58
Hmm

CousCousCous · 14/07/2011 14:59

What am I then, a toddler? I'm 24!

oohjarWhatsit · 14/07/2011 15:00

oh well, when your OH starts saying your friends are cute and lovely, you wont mind either then will you

SomethingProfound · 14/07/2011 15:00

why would you intentionally wind up your DH? Gas lighting much?

CousCousCous · 14/07/2011 15:01

Seriously though, he IS only a baby. He has a little chubby face, bald head and a permanant boyish grin! I could just squeeze him to death.

HampstersDontSwim · 14/07/2011 15:02

Do you fancy him though?

Admit it OP. You fancy baby man.

TheProvincialLady · 14/07/2011 15:13

You need help.

bullet234 · 14/07/2011 15:16

Perspectives on ages do change as you get older and so what may seem mature to one age group, will seem much younger to someone who is a lot older.
OP, are you in your eighties or nineties?

ShoutyHamster · 14/07/2011 15:47

Baby man sounds a right creepy looking individual!

Badgerwife · 14/07/2011 15:58

Wow, how patronising are you? It's probably going to sound OTT, but I find it very offensive when people refer to grown adults as babies, it might be a bit of fun to you but it's so demeaning, and if you wouldn't say it to his face then you shouldn't say it at all. Especially if he looks young. Very immature IMO.

CousCousCous · 14/07/2011 16:07

I did tell him!! we were on a night out and he was being all gobby and loud and DH said to him "She say's you're a baby btw!" and he said "what?? who does?" and so DH pointed to me and I said "You are!! you're just a baby!" and he burst out laughing and said I was "a fucking nut" Grin He's since asked DH when we're next all going out together because his wife is "fucking hilarious".

Which I am, to be fair.

Isn't a bit early in the day for Wine +Wine+Wine?

tifflins · 14/07/2011 16:10

Are you pissed?

JanMorrow · 14/07/2011 16:13

Haha, well to be fair I've said "ah he's only a baby" about someone who was 21 or something, and I'm only 9 years older.. it's just a turn of phrase! YANBU.

And anyone who thinks some light hearted winding up in a relationship is "gas lighting" has ishooooos.

spookshowangel · 14/07/2011 16:14

to be fair i do too to men that are under 24, i could not conceive of having any kind of relationship and they do seem childish in many ways, just as we were at that age no doubt, though we didnt think so at the time. so me and my friends do refer to them as babies. dont think its patronising when my 55 yr old ex employer refers to me a just a baby.

MoonGirl1981 · 14/07/2011 16:15

Poor bloke!

Both of them!!

SomethingProfound · 14/07/2011 16:15

hilarious? Hmm really?

GnomeDePlume · 14/07/2011 16:21

Time for you to grow up I think.
