by a car park attendant!!!!!!

Yes a car park attendant.

I dropped Alfie (DS2) at nursery - (his nursery is in the hospital grounds), 10 mins walk from my house, i went in the car as i dropped Jack (DS1) at school first which is further away.

I couldnt park in one of the designated parking bays because there were a van with its bonnet up, a car parked there and a hospital transport van parked ACROSS the other bay. So i parked at the side of another car opposite the nursery.

As i was driving out of the nursery part, a car park attendant (dressed in a uniform, thinks hes a copper, that kinda thing) flagged me down to stop. So i stopped then he said

'2 things, this car park is a 15mph zone, i dont appreciate you doing 30, 35, 40mph into the grounds and secondly you cant park there, where you just parked.'

So i said '1stly, i didnt exactly speed, i was doing 20mph, there was a car in front of me (i know 5mph over the limit but not the speed he said i was doing) then i said ''and secondly the car park is full, where else am i to park?'
then i said
''wheres the signs?''
He said
''Over there - whilst pointing.'' (which are not do not park here signs they are dangerous equipment in this building signs)

so i said ''well they need to be bigger''
Then as he was walking off he shouted

''You have glasses, you can read''

Grrrr so i shouted 'you WHAT?' and he said it again

So i just shouted 'ohh fuck off'

Its made me very angry now. iv told DH and DH said 'ohh looks like im coming with you to pick Alfie up then'

Grrrr who does he think he is. Hes a ticket attendant ffs. yeah i admit i was speeding 5mph over the limit but FM calling me blind?? Theres no need for that. I probably am BU but there was no need for his attitude, if he had just come up to me to talk, rather than lecture and abuse me then fair do's but he didnt.

YABU. And the condescending way you refer to his job makes me think you are a snob. Get over yourself, you broke the rules and got told off.

You wouldn't be unreasonable to feel embarassed by your behaviour though.

DogsBestFriend · 14/07/2011 14:33

I just hope that another poster doesn't come along to tell us that their nursery aged child/infirm parent has just been knocked down by some rude, abusive, selfish stupid bitch in the hospital car park.

Guess which I'd have more sympathy for?

M0naLisa · 14/07/2011 14:34

haha next you'll be offering out hugs and xxxx Grin

OK i did retaliate and i shouldnt have. he was doing his job, just his attitude annoyed me. And made me mad.

This is all going to go wrong isn't it?

M0naLisa is NOT a troll btw, she's on other threads, so this thread is genuine.

M0naLisa. I appreciate you were not doing the speed he said you were and it's bollocks for him to say "30, 35, 40" perhaps you should have finished the sequence for him Grin BUT having said that you were 5mph over the speed limit and there is no excuse for that, even if the car in front was speeding. The speed limit is there for a reason and no doubt plenty of parents drop their kids off in that place so you should only be travelling at a crawling speed.

Yes he was rude, but he did point out the signs and I'm afraid it does look like you were parked in a prohibited area. If there is nowhere to park, as there often isn't in my dc's school, then you need to turn around and find somewhere else to park. I often have to park in a Waitrose carpark and walk 10 mins to the school, but I'd rather do that than risk a ticket by parking somewhere I am not supposed to.

This man is only doing his job and is no doubt subjected to plenty of abuse so yours wouldn't be the only one. However there was no need to tell him to fuck off. That wasn't nice. He could have been nicer however you were in the wrong and at the end of the day, you were far ruder than he had been.

Sorry.

M0naLisa · 14/07/2011 14:35

"Dogs you see i would have known if id have knocked a child over - i didnt"

M0na, that's not what I said at all. Try again.

M0naLisa · 14/07/2011 14:41

Toby
Call me thick but what do you mean with

you have just redeemed yourself quite a lot

OP posts:
DogsBestFriend · 14/07/2011 14:42

Go on Toby, I dare you, that's an invitation too good to pass up! :o

robingood19 · 14/07/2011 14:42

I do up front rows occasionally; but less now I am older.

I blush to tell you I was young and in the cinema with a lady. An usherette chided me. I said you are an idiott" she said "Yes sir, but if you want to sit in the 5 shilling seats you must pay 5 shillings" She won that one.

TobyLerone · 14/07/2011 14:44

Ah, shite.

Hevian · 14/07/2011 14:44

Ooo there are a lot of vicious people on this thread.

I actually think both the OP and the parking attendant had attitude problems which lead to this situation. If only they had been more pleasant to each other then nobody would have been upset.

oohjarWhatsit · 14/07/2011 14:45

you see i would have known if id have knocked a child over - i didnt

obviously, cos you would have looked in your mirror and seen him lying thereHmm

M0naLisa · 14/07/2011 14:45

Hevian thank you. Finally.

Cheria · 14/07/2011 14:45

Living in a council house and on benefits doesn't mean you can't be a snob, just as living in a palace wouldn't automatically mean you would be a snob.

What snobs do though is get all prickly at being told off by people they consider to be jobsworths/below them. Re-read the first two lines of your post and you will see how it is easy to come to the conclusion yo're a snob.

Glad to hear you're not a snob though :)

M0naLisa · 14/07/2011 14:46

ooh actually im not an idiot and i am a very careful driver. I have being driving for 6 years (not a long time compared to some) but i have never had an accident.

OP posts:
newmum001 · 14/07/2011 14:46

He was doing his job and you were in the wrong. What I don't get is the total disgust that he was JUST a parking attendant. If one of the doctors from the hospital had told you off would you have had more respect for their authority as they have a real job? Grow up! Your attitude is absolutely disgusting!

M0naLisa · 14/07/2011 14:47

I wouldnt class myself as a snob. Id fit in well with the TV programme Shameless Grin Blush
