Apparently all teenagers go to Newquay after GCSEs. Absolutely everyone.

I have said 'No'. I mean No.

I am a neglectful relaxed kind on mother but Ithe line must be drawn somewhere and this is it.

AIBU?

It is Sodom and Gomorrah. Do not budge on this.

(To be really evil, offer her a supervised weekend in Wells-next-the-Sea instead!)

Yes I do wonder how many of the posters saying "it's fine" have been out on the razz in Newquay in the last five years or so.

I wasn't even aware that there was some expectation of a post GCSE jolly. When did that start?

Anyhoo. DS1 is doing his GCSEs next year and there is no way on God's good earth that he will be going.
Not that he's mentioned any such thing, tbh.
So there you go. Not all teenagers will be going.

I went post GCSEs, sixteen years ago- eek!! I remember making a spag bol with my girlfriends in the caravan and watching the Karen Carpenter story on the TV. ROCK AND ROLL!!

The rest of the week was a bit more what you'd expect from a mixed group of teenagers...thinking back I am AMAZED my parents let me go. Having said that nobody got up to anything that they wouldn't at home. Of the group that went, those who did (soft) drugs at home, did so whilst away but nobody had a radical change of personality.

Dh and I spent a night there about 3 years ago en route to the Scillys. Shock horror. Honestly, and we don't live in exactly the most salubrious area when at home. But we were really taken aback.

I would let her go. You have said she is sensible so you should trust her. I went on holiday to Tenerife at 16 with my friends and of course we smoked, drank, stayed out late...no permanent damage has been done!
